Re: the soda conundrum. Have you considered making your own? A lot of beer/wine homebrew shops have the stuff you need to bottle your own soda. I wanted to get my son a starter kit for his birthday, but missed it. Oh well. Christmas is coming!

Have you tried Coke Zero? It's sweetened with a mix of aspartame and something else so maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

I just realized it's your fault at what I did with some sour cream yesterday! 8 oz container of Creamland*, threw in some roasted Hatch green chile*, and a little garlic powder and salt. Now it's calling my name from the refrigerator....

I don't know what the difference between diet coke and coke zero is, but I like coke zero better because for some reason the aspartame flavour is far less noticable. Coke zero tastes like garbage though. The only calorie free, aspartame free soda I know of is diet Crush, but it probably violates the OP's "doesn't taste like crap" bit. Crush tastes cruddy, especially the cream soda. The first time I had Fanta cream soda I was so thrilled at how much better it tasted! I don't know if they make it in diet though.

I've tried Zevia - and as it turns out, I HATE Stevia, it was like drinking transmission fluid. Blue Sky Free (the version of Blue Sky made with Stevia) is pretty similar. If you can't really taste Stevia, then I'm told both are very good.

Regular Blue Sky (in the darker blue cans) has plain old cane sugar in it. The Free version is in light blue cans.

I know. I shop at HEB since they carry a particular hair product I use that Kroger doesn't carry. I only shop at Kroger all the time cause I'm already there.

Actually, I can get them a the Albertsons too. There's a bunch of places in ABQ that carry it. Sunflower Market carries it, too, and they're just across the street from me.

Who the hell invented that?! And more importantly, WHY!? It is one of the most self-important bastard things EVER to say, EVAR.
