  • Not your parking space

I just pinned this note under someone's windshield wiper:

Perhaps you failed to notice, but if you observe the parking space you are currently parked in, you will see the number “114” painted there. That means this space is reserved for the tenants of apartment 114. Last I checked, you're not one of them. So if you would kindly move your vehicle so that we, the tenants who have reserved that parking space, may park our vehicles there, that would be very much appreciated.

There's visitor parking for you down by the mailboxes, and last I checked, the high school next door has two whole parking lots nearby that you may also find will suit your parking needs.

    Sincerely,
    The tenants of 114
I already gave them several hours to move their car before leaving a note. My next note, should one be required, won't be so polite.

You're nicer than me. I'd have called a tow truck.

Eh, come on neecy, at least give them a sporting chance. Plus, you'll never see the fear (or the arrogance) in their eyes if you dont give them warning. Gives for a much fuzzier feeling

I used to have that problem with one apartment I lived in. Used to have people parking in my spot all the time as it was close to the door on the weekends.

I'd park my beater-mobile right behind them, and leave the note then.

If I didn't get a call in 3 hours, I'd call the tow truck.

Double points because *RIGHT IN FRONT* of the parking spot was a big sign saying "Tenant Parking Only. All others will be towed."

It was a popcorn time for sure.

*sigh* I hate parking-spot thieves. My sis's building doesn't bother to enforce the parking and tow trucks won't come without the building owner's authorization. Which means my sis has to fight for her own parking spot, especially because neighbors have parties and tell their guests to park there.

If your building lets you tow offenders, then do so. Screw the notes, these jerks know better.

Note is gone this morning. Car is not.

I'm not sure if we need building's authorization to tow or not. When I head out for my route this morning I'm going to figure out which tow truck company has their sign posted here and give them a ring to find out.

I do like Bandit's approach. We have two spots together there, so Hubby could manage to double park behind the offender and his truck, and still leave plenty of room for people to get around them. I will suggest it to Hubby. If we can't tow 'em, at least we can force them to confront Hubby to get their car out (he has filled our apartment with a good collection of sharp, shiny things).

edited for my feelings. Have them towed if they fail to move their vehicle themselves.

I AM NOT YOUR LANDLORD, however, as far as I know that is trespassing. You have PAID for that spot (its in your lease, I would bet my right hand on it) and it is yours. No one, without your permission, is allowed to park there.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I could very well be. But I know assigned parking is just that, its assigned to the TENANT.

Friend doesn't want me using his name

Call a truck. Colin told me that one day when he came home someone else was in his spot, so he had to park in one of the visitor spots walked back over to his, whiped out his cell phone and called a truck. He didn't put up with that bullshit and niether should you, it's your spot.

Call a truck. Then leave notes saying the following.

                    "Your car has been impounded."

"Your car has been crushed into a cube."

"You now have 30 minutes to move your cube."

So, I found the note I left last night nearby. It was a bit stormy last night, so it probably blew off, meaning they didn't get it yet. Hubby's left them another note, reading:

Move your vehicle or your car will be IMPOUNDED!!!
He's not as nice as me, I guess.

So yeah, they have 'till 3pm to move their car, which is when Hubby gets off of work.

Fortunately, his car seems safe and sound (for now) over at the high school. He just checked on it.

the problem I had was a matter of private property. the cops could come in and cruise the parking lot and ticket you for things like expired plates or city stickers but NOT come in and ticket/get a car towed a car for illegal parking (even if you could show them the lease and parking spot assignment). the complex management would NEVER tow people unless they were plowing the lot in winter

I have this problem a lot where I live, and I was told that I had to call the towing company to come take the car away, AT MY OWN EXPENSE. Lovely.

Now they're saying their' car's broke

So Hubby's gone and talked to our apartment manager, who's already talked to the people who own the car. They're saying that they can't get their car into reverse.

Not sure why that would stop someone from putting it into neutral and pushing it...

I guess they told our apt. mgr they'll move it by the end of the day, so we're going to leave it at that for now and wait and see.

They can't get it in reverse... so they're leaving it parked in someone's spot. Right.

                              Keep us posted.
