Although I do not recommend attempting to drive down the street with two teenagers in the back seat attempting to do a sitting down version of the Time Warp as it plays - "a little jump to the right" isn't so great when it's feeling like the car is about to jump into the oncoming traffic on it's own
what is worse is when ALL of the passengers in the car are doing "The Time Warp" sitting down and I can almost do the full Frankie moves sitting down when "Sweet Transvestite" is played next
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

You do if you're around me... Or showtunes... Or bagpipes. That one always works.

Although not at 120dB. 100 maybe....
Mackeel. Bagpipes, bass, drums and electric guitar. Works *every* time.

i would play JPop really loud with my windows down when someone played their (c)rap musick too loud. Also have Numa-Numa and Yatta on cd, just for such an occasion.

one time my dad was riding in the car with me, he only likes country music (mostly 70-80's) and at the time my air conditioning wasn't working so we had to drive around with the windows down. we had a drive-by rap attack pull up at a red light next to us, with his radio blaring, the car is vibrating from all the bass. so my dad tells me to crank up our radio, which just happened to be playing john denver "thank god i'm a country boy". we got the dirtiest looks from the other car. what? they don't appreciate the classics??

My favorite music to do this with: Star Wars soundtracks (particularly the soundtracks for the Original Trilogy).

Bonus points if the current track is: A) the Main Theme, complete with 20th Century-Fox Fanfare (usually not happening unless I'm just pulling out of the driveway, though); B) The Cantina Band; or C) The Imperial March.

              Blast talk radio.
              Ideally something conservative and evangelical.
Headbang to it, throw up the horns.
I used to do that occasionally when I went to Mass.

Now, I happen to have a collection of Christmas songs with bass.

Now I just have to get a system in my car and freak people out.

Your husband is in the 501st? Cool! I'm going to be meeting a few members of the Alabama 501st this weekend...I don't live in Alabama but I have friends I'll be visiting there this weekend.

Back on topic, I have a friend who is a jungle/d n' b DJ. He's given me a few of his mixes. Jungle has some rap/hip-hop influences...but the beats are fast and frantic (like a lot of electronica) and fairly mindbending. I love confusing the boys who persist in blasting their crap-with-a-silent-c music.

                    ....

I now have a girl crush on Green Fairy. Flogging Molly...

Also, I lost my copies of Yatta and Numa Numa, I need to find them and get them on my mp3 player again!! I still have the O Fortuna, though. This thread is making me want to break out some stuff I haven't listened to in a while. Pardon me while I hunt for my Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys music....

Also priceless: "Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog" or the soundtrack made from the DVD commentary track on Dr. Horrible, "Commentary! The Musical." I've gotten some horrified looks for those.

And I agree with you, Flogging Molly (or Dropkick Murphys) are great!

Spanish music is also good, especially if it's not Mexican music (because people blasting Mexican music is actually rather common where I live). My favorites are either Cuban salsa music (since I happen to be Cuban) or Colombian music.

(and no, sorry - kidneys don't grow back. Once they're gone, they're gone)

Love the low-riders blasting Mariachi music. Which is actually preferable to rap. I actually really like Mariachi music, but of course I grew up hearing it all the time.

After what my neighbor pulled last Saturday with his new surround sound system, I fully intend to get a CD or something full of either gory screaming or obnoxious sex noises and leave it playing all night while I'm at work.

He had his surround sound so jacked up that I thought it was storming. The wall that he and I share was rumbling.
                            Beethoven's 9th works wonders.

How could I forget the Brobdingnagian Bards? I have played The Jedi Drinking Song, and Do Virgins Taste Better? while driving in to work with windows down and sitting at the main gate. The gate guards usually just give me funny looks until they see which car the music is coming from, and the MPs laugh when I pull in to the parking lot. Some of the soldiers that are out and about during the shift I work suddenly decide to turn their music down or leave. I had one MP ask if he could borrow one of my CDs when he got a call to break up a party, then when he came to give it back he had to tell me about blasting Old Black Rum as he drove up to where the party was from the patrol car. Still, I thought the reaction to Do Virgins Taste Better? was the best one, I had pulled up next to a car that was blasting (c)rap music and the passenger fell out his door laughing.

Oh I did this to the people living next to me at one of my old places. Blared "Brand New Day." They stopped talking to me after that.
