All I know is the hero complex in me just didn't care at all, nor any alarms in my head screaming to do something.

    Was I wrong?
The sweating profusely part makes me think he wasn't faking.

Since lots of other people were reacting, you were OK with not doing anything. Sometimes staying out the way is the best thing to do.

I randomly pass out or faint or whatever when I think of certain (deeply hidden in my mind, shocking) things. I asked the doctor about it, and she said it's a mental thing, like your body tried to physically block it so hard you fainted or lost balance. It also happens if I see certain people linked to the memories or somebody brings it up.
I don't know if that's what the guy was doing, but it could be. It could have also been something else though, so I think that you were in the right to not freak out when it happened.
