Man. The scariest things are frequently the quickest. Or the slowest. Rarely in between.
so so glad you and the cashier are alright (physically, anyway... >_> )

Yikes! Glad that you ended up okay. That's seriously scary. I hope they catch that guy!

Glad you weren't hurt. I hope the cops catch the bastard.

Consider inviting the cashier to join you in a Victims of Crime group counselling thing. (There'll be a Victims of Crime or equivalent group near you - the police can probably point you at them.)
            Seshat's self-help guide:
            1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
            2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
            3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
            4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

They offered that service but I don't feel I need it. The Cashier might since he was closer to the action and was more involved. I got threatened once and left alone the rest of the time.

I grew up in a rural area, and saw plenty of guns, but I've never been on the other end of one. I can only imagine how scary that must be.
MadMike: I guarantee that the barrel looks a HELL of a lot bigger than it really is.

When I was about 18, I worked double shifts at a gas station on Sundays. I usually took my doberman to work with me. The one day I left the dog at home, I was robbed at gun point. I still believe to this day that if he'd been there with me, we'd both be dead, as they tried to take me with them, and I KNOW Hook'em would not have allowed that to happen without a fight.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Both of you should get the counseling. Even if just one session.

My robberies happened 8 years ago, and every once in a while, I get a flashback.

I wish I had gotten the counseling.
                  I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.
