yes, if you know the command, you can file a complaint with the unit; i was close to doing so on one little bitch who was causing a ruckus at the clinic i used to work at because she wasn't getting her way (aka, we didn't tell her what she wanted to hear), so she proceeded to play the 'i'm reporting you to your commander' game. i told my boss that we have her husband's command info, and all it takes is a quick phone call and her spouse will be in explaining her stupidity.

patriotism over $.40...bet she's a desk jockey with NO real deployment time, including training deployment.
    look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

i don't mind if they use mil id when i ask for it... as long as it's a legal id i'll take it.

and yes, you can get them in trouble with their command.
then again if they're flashing the good old ID around, you usually can tell anyway. it's been almost 3 years but i seem to remember having a ship's sticker on my id card...

and really if they are being dickwads you SHOULD talk to their command. However, whether or not the command cares may be a different matter. as well as whom the service member knows... (yeah I've seen some people get out of trouble by being related to the chain of command.)

My other fav is when you ask for photo Id and they move the dl just to get out the military ID.
Being an Army brat, I had a military ID (dependant) for as long as I could remember, so when I got my learner's permit and later my driver's license, it was hard to remember that "ID" now meant "license" after years and years of it meaning "military ID". I don't know why someone who hasn't grown up like that does it...showing off?

Speaking as someone who occasionally gets offered a senior discount ("No thank you darlin',I'm not quite that old yet!" ) I think that people like that didn't turn into assholes when they hit 62/65/whatever age, they were always assholes.

Jeez, when I want a discount on something I just ask for one,if they say No I just smile & carry on.Not that I'm a pushover for bad service/products,I'm suing a local business for not making good on their mistake after I gave them ample time & opportunity to fix the problem.

Mrs Frantic & I travel around the state a lot & we'll buy stuff,I'll say to the clerk (who's sometimes the artist that made it) "Hey,we're locals, not tourists, can you give us a break on this?" & always do it with a big smile...works every time,I get 10-30% off

That crap goes on in South Florida all the time. Some, however, will actually say to the counter person five and six times that they are a senior, and it gets to where the counter person has to say, "Sir, I heard you clearly the first time you said it."

That's very childish behavior though. Too bad they didn't just tell him to leave.

From what I hear about parts of South Florida, the stores could save a lot of money if they only gave discounts to people who weren't seniors.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. It only boggles when people seem to deliberately bypass their DL to grab the military ID. It's like pulling out the wad of 100's and flipping past them for the smaller bills you need to buy a pack of gum. It appears to be mostly for show ("Look at me, I'm in the military, you should totally give me a discount!").

Wow...yeah, he should have been 86'd out the door and told that if he can't behave properly he won't be welcome.
Too many people pull that crap and keep getting away with it because management is afraid to "offend" someone by calling them on behavior that would get a 5 year olds butt tanned.

I agree. Management is WAY too soft on SC's and EW's. Screw offending the petulant sucktomers! That old man showed his ass and he should've had a boot up his ass for that!

An appropriate response would be "No need for ID - it's obvious you're a senior because you keep forgetting that you've already told me."
