Another possibility was the TV with the SD reader had a 'sales reward' connected with it, and that was the only feature worth pushing, or the main point he'd used to sell it before
Sales reward for whom, me or him

I'm sure he used that as a selling point for other middle aged women. It was that he pushed it even after I was totally disinterested that got me.

A friend of mine once told me that if she was taken into my living room without any knowledge of who lived there, she would swear up and down that it was the apartment of a 20-something male bachelor. I'm a 30-something single woman with a love for action, sci-fi and horror for both books and movies. I'm also my mom's go-to gal when she buys some new bit of electronic goodness so someone can show her what to do.

I'd have been tempted to say, "I'm looking at the hi-def big-screens because I want an optimum viewing experience when I watch porn. I like when I can see the fleas on the farm animals."

I bet he'd still be going on about the fucking card reader since girls don't watch porn, just like how girls don't fart.

For anyone who doesn't know, Grace Hopper was both a Rear Admiral & a pioneer in computers in the 40's & later..

Nice Letterman segment with her. I seem to remember her doing the nano-second schtick on Carson as well, but old Tonight Show clips are notoriously hard to find. RIP Rear Admiral, you were a remarkable person.

Heh, most likely using the wrong phrase...been out of retail for 20 years now The 'If you sell x item, you get a donut!' type thing that stores will have on occasion.

Him continuing after you'd shown you weren't interested? Poor sales technique, bigtime...Which fits with him trying an approach that didn't fit the information you'd given him. I'd be interested to know if he uses the same line on guys as well...Some 'sales'people find a line that works once...and stick with it, come hell or high water

I was offered a sales job at an IIHregg earlier this year for the sole purpose of having a girl to be able to interact with the growing number of women electronics consumers. I didn't want to be commission so I turned it down, but I left impressed of that forward thinking store manager.
Do they really think that a man cannot be trusted NOT to sound patronizing to women? How ridiculous!

As far as I know Mrs. IA doesn't look at porn on the Internet. However, she does like looking at web sites about all kinds of surgery, including cosmetic, tattoos, various kinds of body modifications, and stuff like that. I find some of those much more gross than the porn sites.

Just mentioning, but I've been told that a 1080p resolution is only relevant if you want to watch BlueRay movies in HD. If you have an average DVD player, a 720p TV will do just as fine.
I recently got HD and though I don't watch a lot of TV, 1080p makes Skyrim, an already beautiful game in SD look absolutely gorgeous!

It's this "women don't like action movies" theme that has me boycotting Dr. Pepper products until they stop running that insulting "action movie" commercial for their new diet soda. Stupid sexist BS.

I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

Glad I am not the only one that hates that commercial.

I hate it when sales people do that. Also an action movie girl. Give me cute boy to look at (drool on Thor) and a lot of things blowing up and I am a happy girl. Hubby thinks he married the perfect woman.

and a side note if you don't find what you want now for a TV wait until the Superbowl, really good deals can be had then. We got our tv then and got a blu-ray player thrown in for free.

Aye. If your set is under 50ish inches, it's unlikely that anyone who isn't a hardcore videophile will notice any real difference anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a guy and I have issue with the ads, as wonderfully absurd as they are >_< Part of me wants to say that they're tongue-in-cheek, but another part of me says "They're idiots for releasing these to the public" x.x If they just took out the gender commentary, they'd be fine -- as-is, I would swear they were some of the fake ads from "Tropic Thunder".
