  • A ruined Christmas

An in law of mine works for one of the local power companies. Yesterday a car hit and took down 2 power poles that took out the power for a lot of people. The people living near would come up and ask how long the power would be out. When told it would be several hours to restore power they would yell that he was ruining Christmas, not the idiot that caused the problem but him.

It still amazes me that people can be that stupid. Don't know why; I should be used to it by now.

If I were the employee, I'd raise an eyebrow and say "Yeah, it kinda ruined mine too."

We had a bit of a windstorm, and as I was watching the lights flicker, I thought "Hmm...if we lose power, we won't be able to cook the ham, and we'll have to play board games instead of video games. Oh well." My very next thought was "Damn, some poor power company guy has to go out in this weather and work on Christmas. That sucks. But whoever it is rocks and I love them."

Really, why would you blame the people trying to restore power? They're not the Grinches. They're the f***ing Christmas saviours!

I love the "Ruined Christmas" people. Unless what happened went back into time and stopped the baby Jesus from being born, your Christmas will be fine. Different, but fine.

I've got a friend who works for the power company. We had a hurricane come through with lots of power outages. He got yelled at in 7-11 for daring to take a break when people didn't have power. He was just getting a drink. Those guys need to eat and drink too.

What the hell. I would have been running out there bringing the guy cookies and a drink, FFS.

"What? It's Christmas? Shit, I forgot. I'm off home. I'll come back after my break to fix up your lines. What's that? You want it fixed now? You're ruining my Christmas!"
