I'd definitely have complained to the bank manager, that's just setting your customers up to be followed & robbed.
I'm pretty sure he did. Think he also asked them for an escort to his car.

that's probably why he mentioned the permit. in case any of the other people there were thinking of trying to take it from him.
Well, the permit is for a .22 rifle which he obviously didn't have concealed on his person. But they didn't know that.

About that time, he visited my brother in Israel, where he was going to school, and when he returned, he mentioned that he'd never been so boggled in his life as when he was standing in line in a bank, waiting to change dollars into sheqels, and the guy on line in front of him had a machine gun casually slung over his shoulder, and nobody blinked an eye...

I once withdrew $3000 cash to pay off a credit card debt, and the teller had a manager come to me and ask me WHY I was taking out the money. I was taken aback- it wasn't any of their business, and told him that if he had a problem with my taking out a measley $3000 for my own reasons, I'd change that to the full $9000 I had in my account, and close it. Suddenly it wasn't an issue.

Israel has manditory armed service requirements. From what I understand, it is the law that, even off-duty, soldiers have carry their service rifle with them at all times. Something about neighbors who lob explosives willy-nilly make them nervous, I guess.

It is also not unusual to see people stop and offer a ride to complete strangers walking down the side of the road with an assault rifle there, from what I was told..
