I did fall off once, and got bit by a glorious palomino who was a right bastard, but I never got seriously hurt. I would NOT recommend climbing in with strange horses and riding them bareback to anybody else though!

True. One of my grandparents' neighbors raised Belgian work horses. Huge horses, some of whom are bigger than Clydesdales, BTW. If you ever head into Amish country, the Belgians likely came from that farm. Anyway, when we'd go hiking in the woods and fields, we were always told not to bug the horses. Most of the time, they'd just ignore us, and keep eating or playing. Some though...well, it was best to leave them alone. They were either young and still a bit 'wild,' or simply didn't like being around people. Mess with them at your own risk, in other words.

To quote one of my relatives... "you have no idea how big a Belgian really is...until the hoof comes through your windshield..."
