mmmm no... I had an ex-boyfriend who used Axe Essence... and yummmmmmm *drool* I have really high sensitivity to most scents, and it didn't bother me too much. But he used in moderation :P

Hmm - scents for men are supposed to attract women, so there's no surprise that you like the smell.

Am I bad for liking the way Obsession for Men smells on me (I'm female)?
I have found that if I wear anything for more than a few days at a time I can't smell it any more, so I'll wear it maybe once a month, if that.

My favorite scent is Pikake, it's a flower found in Hawaii. I found the fragrance in a gift shop in a novelty bottle on Kauai, fell in love, and have been tracking it down at scent shops ever since. I generally buy it in a flower oil version, so a little goes a long way, and just dab it on when I get out of the shower. The only perfumes I use other than that are from Comptoir Sud Pacifique, which are freaking expensive, but very unique. My favorite is the Vanilla Banana one.
I had a friend in college who was obsessed with how great I always smelled (according to him). He would hug me forever everytime we hung out, and just tell me how good I smelled.
I like Patchouli in very small quantities, and in incense. In perfume, it just tends to be way too much.

It's different when you wear perfume and people can only smell it when they hug you or get close to you- afterall, THAT'S how its supposed to be. (I do know people who wear perfume, and honestly, I never noticed it until I gave that person a hug and caught a soft whiff of it...and when it's soft and not an overpowering scent, it doesn't make my head explode)
It's when I can smell you before I see you that makes me go into sinus shock. And most people that overload themselves tend to wear those nasty factory scents...

I sometimes use vanilla shampoo & conditioner. But again, it's not that expensive crap, just the cheap Suave brand. Each only costs about $1.Quoth Luna View PostI've always worn a type of vanilla. It's a warm fuzzy smell most people like, makes them think of cookies and baking.

I used to strictly use vanilla-scented oils only until a friend got me hooked on Hanae Mori's Pink Butterfly. It smells like vanilla or cotton candy (depends on who is smelling it) and everyone who encounters me loves it. I have co-workers who purposely hug me to get a whiff of this stuff. It's like a pheromone! I'd never been big on perfume before, but nothing gets between me & my Pink Butterfly. I even spray some on my cleavage before bed.
And I am with you - patchouli is the most vile smell ever. It smells like an oily, dirty person.

Close, patchouli. Disgusting scent. I smelled it once when I was checking out scents at the store, inwardly gagged, then made my friend smell it so she could be disgusted too. If I have to punish myself with a horrible scent, I'm taking someone down with me!Quoth Luna View PostI hate patchuli (sp?). That is possibly the worst scent in the world.
Ugh, what do I wear? Usually just lotions with vague scents on them, such as sweet pea or white cherry blossom. I figure me being showered and clean should be good enough.

I've always worn a type of vanilla. It's a warm fuzzy smell most people like, makes them think of cookies and baking. I used to waer Vanilla Field all the time for years. Always got compliments on it and great shock when I said no, it isn't some $60 per half ounce crap. You can buy it well, now it's $20 for a bottle at any drugstore perfume aisle. I wear Body Shop Vanilla now, it's more natural and not as purfumey.
If a co-worker said it bothered them, or if anyone ever told me it did - I would stop wearing it. Mostly I wear stuff b/c it soothes me. Like when I go home, I put on a bit of lavender oil. Nice and soothing.

Agh. The worst scent (well, besides eau de dumpster, which is what a few customers buying needles the other day apparently applied to themselves) has to be Axe Body Spray. I don't have allergies, but that stuff is so strong and noxious it makes my eyes tear up.

Ah, that store. I actually like that place for shirts. I was just speaking from experience. Gross dirty "don't-touch-anything" experience.Quoth blas87 View PostI used the "Californian frat house" reference because those guys at work all wear that Hollister cologne (that "California" store).

Good question. This one girl I sort of used to see would always tell me I smelled good. Funny thing, I never used any kind of cologne. I guess what she was smelling was the soap and shampoo, as you said. And it wasn't even expensive stuff. Go figure.Quoth Cia View PostWhat's so wrong about smelling like your soap and shampoo?

What's so wrong about smelling like your soap and shampoo? I have never found a use for perfumes or colognes - most make my nose stuffy. It would piss my Mom off to no end because I would refuse to use all this perfumey stuff that little girls are supposed to love.
Still looking for a soap that smells like my Double Delight roses.

It doesn't matter what it is, most scents send me into allergic ouchy mode. I did tell off one of my co-workers (nicely) for wearing too much cologne one day. I couldn't stand near him and told him as much. Last time we worked together, he didn't put the cologne on.
I've found that it's not always the little old ladies who are the biggest offenders, it's young ladies....(20's ish...fashionable, club hopping types)
