Little update: so the father is going to sue Boss for slander. Yep, the racist, homophobic bigot is upset that someone has dared call him on his appalling behaviour. He also sent a petition around Facebook, demanding that he be let back in the pub. It's apparently going to get 20,000 signatures, and he has sent it to everyone who works at the pub, because he thinks we miss him.

    Ha!
Just to get this straight - he's trying to get back into this pub? Are there no other pubs in the area for him to inflict his behavior upon? It just seems such a weird thing to try to do. Spend the rest of his life shaking his fists in impotent rage on the Internet, yeah, that I can see, but I got turfed from a store over 20 years ago for rampaging stupidity and I haven't been back since, with no inclination whatsoever to try my luck.

Actually, it's possible that there ARE no other pubs that will let him in...I remember a story around here about a woman who had to beg a garage mechanic to see to her car because she'd alienated every other mechanic in town.

He is actually banned from two other pubs that are on the same street as us. The pub is located on the main street in town and there are six pubs on it. He is now banned from half of them.

One pub banned him because he got in a fight with another customer. This also happened to take place on the day of his father's funeral.

The other pub banned him because, according to him, he simply complained that the beer was flat. I don't believe that for a second. That particular pub is my favourite in our town, the service is wonderful, the staff are very, very friendly and polite. It would have taken A LOT for them to turn around and tell someone never to come back!

You did the right thing by calling the police, that's what more deserving customers should to have done to them if only some people would realize that the policeman is your friend in this and hates their sort just as much as we sometimes do.

He's been banned from three different pubs, and he still hasn't figured out that he's at fault?! Serious denial there. It's no fun to admit you're being an asshole, but that much evidence, yeah, you'd better do some soul-searching, maybe therapy.

Oh, and is there security video evidence of his tantrum at the pub? That'd kibosh his lawsuit PDQ.

His estimate will likely be off a bit. I'm guessing "a bit" in this case means about 19,990 or so.

I don't know how slander law works in the UK, but, if it's anything like US, you have to prove:

              A: It's untrue
B: It caused real tangible damage to your reputation/business
Actually, another part of the U.S. law is that it not only has to be untrue, but the person saying it had to know it was untrue. Also, whether or not it cause harm to the reputation or business is less important than whether or not the person saying meant to cause harm to same.

In short, it has to be false, it has to be known to be false by the person saying it, and they have to be saying it maliciously to cause damage to the person/business they are speaking of.

But UK laws may be far different on the matter.

It's your favorite pub in town? This suggests you are on good terms with the staff. So how is it, good sir, that you haven't asked them for the specifics on this dude's banning?!?!?!?

Douche. Some people just can't accept the truth of the situation they've put themselves in.

I've been banned from one bar in Key West, and that was after I talked shit about them and swore never to set foot in the place again, for good reason, Which made their "banning" of me completely irrelevant. I'm still in Key West, and they're long gone. So that clearly didn't work out too well for them.

Yeah, he probably does think that it's not his fault. Just a-hole pubs. Unfortunately, he's VERY wrong.

Ha! I actually said something like that to a former CW at the wholesale club.

This was before I left. He was a bit of an ass, but not to full Co-Irker levels, and one day he comes in with his dad to do some shopping.

                        Him: "Hey, didya miss me?"
J2K: "Yeah, but my aim's improving."

                          Update time!

Last Saturday Father came back to the pub with his tail behind his legs. He walked up to the doormen, who stopped him immediately.

F: Please let me in. All my friends are in there and I've not seen them for ages!
                          D: I'm sorry, but you're banned.

He begged for a few minutes and was sent on his way.

Last night me and a co-worker were walking down the street when he appeared and stopped us.

F: I can't believe I'm still banned, after all the money I gave your pub!
Me: I'm sorry, but we can't really comment or talk about this.
F: Oh it's OK. I understand. You don't want to say anything bad about your boss, I understand that.

I'm actually thinking "No, I don't want to say what I really think about you, because you will most likely try and punch me!"

F: I just want to give you a little bit of advice: Keep your nose clean. I've got an insider at the pub who is reporting EVERYTHING back to me. I'm taking all the evidence to my solicitor, and then I'm going to the newspaper. So don't do anything that will attract attention to yourselves.
                          Me: Right, OK.

We walked away. CW and me wondered who the mole could have been, but we've concluded that it's absolute bullshit
