How silly of me...when you said there was a story about a car crash at work, I assumed it happened in the parking lot, something minor, etc....being that it's you, I should've known better.
WTF is wrong with people? (besides the What truly depresses me about this is that not only will they not learn their lesson unless they do get in trouble with the law for the accident "pweshus" caused, if they do get away with it, mom basically just taught the brat that running away and not assuming responsibility for things that are your fault is a good thing to do.

Well, your work is always going to be a hell of an expedition.
Glad to know that both drivers are okay. But holy crap people are stupid. I'm even surprised that my brain is still running, let alone not shutting down.

The problem with the last one was that nothing could be done - I didn't have any information for the kid and her mother (where the sofa landed on my shoulder)
This one however, I got the plate number, for something unrelated that came in handy.
As far as corporate dropping the issue, well, I wonder if they're tired of the workmans comp claims for major injuries I've had working here :-P Lets see, Ghetto superstar, a busted ankle, having a sofa drop on me, and now this, all in the span of a year and a half.
My work is nothing if not adventerous.

I know it sounds cruel but I think the brat should have been hit. Not killed mind you, but injured. As for the woman, I will never understand why some people are allowed to be parents when they are so negligent of their children and obviously don't give a damn. What happened is worse than the parents that let their six year olds play M rated videogames that have blood, gore, and sex scenes.

I feel bad for both of those drivers. None of them had any idea that in a split second, this was going to happen to them. And mother and brat get away scott free.
I remember that story where you got injured. If I ever worked in a job in which a customer or their kid did something that injured me, I'd quit. Nothing is worth risking your health and safety if the perpetrators are going to get away with it.

At least nobody was hurt on this one. Last time I had a brat like that in the store I ended up going to the emergency room and could have lost an arm.
I guess corporate dropped the issue because the manufacturer discontinued the table, and figured she suffered enough. But then again, if it's corporate, it's not supposed to make sense.
I have no idea if the police ticketed her or not. All they did was take the information I had at the time. Corporate didn't see the point in going to small claims court for a $500 table when nobody was hurt (which I am glad for, don't get me wrong, no child deserves to be a red streak on the asphalt) and there was easily $5k + damages to both vehicles.

Anyone else notice a trend with these kinds of stories? (this is similar to the guitar shop story, minus the car accident)
Kid causes destruction or some kind of huge scene (in this case, an accident) and as soon as everyone else is distracted, the idiot parent scoops the kid up and runs for it, thinking no one will notice and they'll never get caught.

Fenig, your brain shut down? My brain just went Ka-blooey!!!
OMG Kus!!! I can't believe you had to live through that!
And I would have thought the Police would have gotten a hold of you just to let you know they talked to/arrested the mother and did something to the son too.
As for corporate selling the table at a discount and dropping the damage charge against the woman? Corporate is full of idiots.
Kus.

I would have been livid that corporate dropped the table issue.
People this stupid need to be taught a lesson, and while she almost paid with her son's life (which thankfully did not happen) she needs to understand that there are reprecussions to her actions, or in this case inactions.
I seriously hope that something was done in terms of the accident her little brat caused.
People like her should be sterilized.

Ok, now that I'm functioning again, wouldn't you think that they police would do one of two things:
1-Ticket the mother for causing the accident
2-Remove the child for the mother's negligence, chalking it up to Child Endangerment?
I'm absolutely flabbergasted at this. And I don't use a term like flabbergasted lightly.
