First of all, I am mixed. I am half Asian and half white. I have been noticing a lot of racism going on lately from the customers. So now I have to deal with sexism from managment and racism from the customers. Let's start.

First case:

ME: Did you find everything ok?
SC: Ching Chong Ching Chong
ME:....wha?
SC: *laughs* I'm just speaking your language!

Second case:

ME: Did you find everything ok?
SC: ohhh, me so horny!
ME:....
SC: *laughing* God you people don't get a joke! By the way, what's your number? Asian chicks are hot!
ME: I don't have a phone.
SC: When do you get off?
ME: Never.

I have a beard, i've trimmed it a bit, so not as long as it used to be, but still fairly long, it's not racism in any way, so not that on topic

but people seem to lack this mental block that tell them "whoa boy... this is an insult! say something else!"
so.. i've been told so many times "so.. what do you hide in your beard, your lunch?" and they start laughing like they just told the most hilarious joke in the world, and if they really wanna make sense, they tell me that my beard could smother a yak!

I had a friend assume that since I knew a few snippets of Japanese, I knew about the meaning of her son's girlfriend's name. I had to tell her no, since her son's girlfriend is Vietnamese.

What was funny is that I have an Asian friend who is pure Japanese, but is third generation American born.

Great grand parents came to America, met and married, had a child who met and married a Japanese woman, themselves had a son who married a japanese woman who gave birth to him.

He gets grief for it sometimes by customers who think he should understand Japanese culture better than he does.

Hell I know more about Japanese culture than he does. He speaks with a SoCal surfer dude accent (think Crush from "Finding Nemo") and is a product of growing up in Southern California.

He really is a surf rat.

As he puts it, he knows some Japanese, he knows words like "Sushi", and "Toyota", and "Suzuki".

But there are idiots who do the whole pseudo-Japanese accent/language when dealing with him and get really surprised when he fires off with "Dude, is there something wrong with you?" in that classic American surfer-dude intonation.

I know a few people like that (the ex for one...he thought that for some reason because I had "social dyslexia" I would find his racist crap funny or insightful--um NO). I correctly surmised that his mental block had become cracked some time ago.
