  • What I instruct an SC to do VS. What SC's actually do

This goes along the lines of this thread, but with a little twist.

What I instruct an SC to do:

For an issue like that you will need to contact "X" , who has already left for the day. However, you can reach "X" .via an email at xxx@xxx.com
They will respond to your email with further information.

    What SC's actually do:

Call back in five minutes and ask the same thing again.
    Rinse.
Repeat... at least 2-3 more times.

What I instruct an SC to do:

If you would like us to evaluate your art/design concepts for a pricing quote, email the files to me in any standard image format (.jpg, .gif, .tiff, .bmp).
For the most accurate and detailed pricing estimate for a prospective order, be sure to also email me responses for ALL of the following order criteria -
Quantity, size, metal type, # of colors, edging type desired, any other special features you would like.

    What SC's actually do:

Fax me a copy of a photocopied picture that comes through the fax machine as nothing but an indecipherable blob of black ink.
No further information or any answers to anything I asked is provided.

What I instruct an SC to do:

"If you are experiencing problems, please email a brief description of the problem along with any available error messages."

    What SCs actually do:

Send me an email that says, in its entirety, "Hi Mango, the server is down."

    ---

What I instruct an SC to do:

"When you're doing data input, be sure to type in the information in its proper place. Otherwise, the computer won't know what to do with it."

    What SCs actually do:

Complain to me that the lists aren't alphabetizing properly when they've entered the phone number in the "Last name" field.

    ---

What I instruct an SC to do:

    "Double click on <icon>."

    What SCs actually do:

Open anything BUT <icon>. Then, instead of closing what they opened and opening the correct icon, they have an ARGUMENT with me claiming that they did in fact do what I asked, in spite of all the witnesses agreeing with me.

    ---

What I instruct an SC to do:

"Can you read me the error message that's on the screen please?"

    What SCs actually do:

Literally say "Windows has blah blah blah blah. Okay/Cancel."

      I get that a lot.

What I instruct an SC to do:

"Read me the exact error message completely as it's on the screen"

      What SCs actually say:

It says something about it being locked.

What I instruct an SC to do: "Please step to the window to your left."

What I instruct SC's to do:

          GDIAF.

          What they actually do:

Continue yelling at me for things that aren't my fault or I had no prior knowledge of.
Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?
