I'm a pizza delivery guy, we are not allowed to carry over 20 dollars on us at one time or we get chewed out. I've had customers who hand me 50-100 dollar bills, when I tell them I can't cash them for a 10 dollar order. They not only get huffy, but then hand me almost exact change. They were just to damn lazy to go to the bank.
No, they just wanted to impress you with the $50 or $100. Most people get them from the bank to begin with.

I seriously want to outlaw $50s and $100s.
    I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

No need to outlaw $50s and $100s people need to ask the bank teller to break it in $20 cause they at least the local brances I used in the San Fernando Valley would always whip out the $100s cause it was less to count. Example I am getting $250 in cash, I normally would ask 1 large=$100 rest in $10 & $20s a nice mix of bills.. People are just too stupid to ask for different bills..

All the banks I deal with ask how you want the cash.

I stand by my outlaw opinion.

I can't wait til I take over the world.

People and their $100's! At my last job they had to be spending $70 or more before we could break it. We were a pre-pay station thank goodness (well, all of BC is now)...
We're literally the only gas station in the city to all post-pay (at least during daytime), but we're getting new pumps this year so that will change. Surprisingly we rarely get people pumping a small amount of gas and trying to pay with a $100 bill (which we must accept if they already have gas in their tank). Maybe people are actually reading the sings on he pump warning that we might be unable to accept big bills. I once had a customer (snotty soccer mom) pump $12 worth of gas and try to pay with a $100. She was really obnoxious and cut in front of 3 people. Not wanting to be cleaned out of 1s and 5s I put an odd roll of quarters in her change, oh and a $25 box of rolled pennies . Never saw her again.

$25 in rolled pennies? That is awesome! Nothing she could do about it, either. You owed her a debt (her change). You can use whatever you want to pay it.

Doesn't this make you feel happy that the Federal Government did away with $500 and $1000 bills!!!!

Imagine paying for a pack of gum with a $1000 bill.

I don't really think those are connected. I mean, who hasn't dressed up as Supes on their day off, and stood around in public?

                        ...

                        Anyone?

                        Just me then, eh? Right...

Now imagine getting arrested and visited by the gentlemen from Treasury or Secret Service (depending on time period) when you do. Thousand-dollar-bills were for use in Bank-to-Bank, Government-to-Government, or Bank-to-Treasury transfers ONLY. A civilian with one in his wallet was assumed to be a thief until proven otherwise.

                            but...
The other side of this is when people pay for large purchases with small bills and coins.

Like when a lady came in and paid for a $500 gift card with small bills and coins. ARGH. It drove me nuts. I was so scared I'd get something wrong.

People need to give the cashier the sort of money that makes sense with a transaction. I'd want a $500 cash purchase to be paid in hundred dollar bills, or at least larger bills. Packs of gum? ...not so much!

Nobody other than a bank has the kind of change most customers seem to think we do.

Ha we have €500 notes (roughly $650! I got one for a €29 transaction once). I opened my till today with the float of 2 €10's and 4 €5s and a load of coins, as per usual. As often happens, top customer in the queue is waiting to pounce and is watching intently. Having witnessed the miserable denominations of notes going into the till, top customer proceeds to produce a €200 note for a €9 transaction. Cue looking at boyfriend, talking in foreign language and a lot of puzzled looks and impatience because oooo SURPRISE I can't immediately furnish you with €191 of change, having just opened a till with €40. BAHHH. That was a good 5 minutes in waiting, satisfactory.

To me that's just plain stupid to carry around huge amounts of cash like that. Over here, the government has the authority to confiscate your cash if you're carry around huge amounts of it. The rationale is that it could be "drug money".
