Many professional photographers (the guys who do news photography, magazine photography, wedding photography and such) still do prefer traditional film to digital, but the technology is catching up.

I'm sure there will be a near complete switch over at one point, but I think it will be awhile before all the hardcore film guys finally change their way.

"we want to visit Seattle then loop over to Forks for my daughter to see where Twilight was filmed".
I know the sequel is being shot in Vancouver and apparently they shot most of the first film in Portland.... they are gonna be a little disappointed if they go to forks!

        Ugh...

What I DO know of Twilight seems... well, the logical extreme of neutering the species. With Vampires, the seductiveness was always paired with their extreme danger... they were kinda a metaphor for temptation, really.
What I liked best of the movie was when Bella is dreaming on Edward drinking her blood.

They not monsters anymore, they're Boy Band Members.
hee, that is so true. And the actor who plays Edward has two songs in the movie.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

        I wish porn had subtitles.

I used to say I was hardcore film. Then I got my D-SLR and it paid itself off with two events. Although the quality isn't quite there (speed, not megapixels) I've learned so much because I could experiment and see the results immediately.

Yeah, this former hardcore film photographer has a drawer of film in the fridge that hasn't been touched in about 4 years. Other than times where film really is better (evidence photographs etc b/c investigating if a file was altered can cost some $$), give in to technology, people!

GD-it!!! I can't stand Twilight!!! is with a 'vegetarian' vampire?!
Makes about as much sense as a vegan werewolf.

For some unknown reason, an aunt of mine loves the movie.

We have one of the old folding ones. Apparently it can be hacked to take the existing Polaroid film, but that requires physically modifying the camera and it's one of the rarer production models, so while it would be cool to be able to actually use it again mom doesn't want to do anything that would damage it.

All this hubbub....about a stupid movie based on a stupider book about some whiny twat and her sparkly vampire boyfriend? The mind boggles.
You forgot to add in the part that the books setting town wanted nothing to do with either the books or movie....

GRRRRARGH! why is it good books based out here in the Pac NW never get made. (grumbles and hopes the Mercy Thompson movie deal(s) go through, or they finally do a Wizard of the Pigeons movie heavily CGI'd since two major places in that book are no longer around)

oh and Twilight, proof that Vampires need to go back to their ugly monstrous roots.

true but sometimes... even though it's not instant-gratification... there are things still that digital cameras just can't do like regular film cameras.

Thinking about some of my boyfriend's cameras... (yes plural, he does professional work). He has a few film cameras including a seagull (like a rolleflex), a holga (for fun) and a medium format and large format... (the large format looks a bit like this). The film comes in large slides... and the amount of data you get from them... omg. Sometimes he gets the photos converted to digital format - but he can only fit THREE photos to a DVD. Yeah. Photos that are a little over 1Gb. O_o

It's a bit harder getting digital cameras to do that, unless you go super-high end.

ROFL yes nice sig - i used my mac translator on it

Mom has a Holga as well as a few other "old" cameras and film. She's taking a darkroom class right now and some of the stuff she's developed is amazing. There's just something about hand-processed photos that digital cameras can't catch.
