Six weeks to go 'till my "home" convention on Memorial Day weekend and I've already turned down four costume commissions because they were requested after my deadline. (March 20)

A seamstress friend of mine in the SCA jokes that there should be a competition of most garb sewn in the 24 hrs before an event, and for the most elaborate garb sewn 24 hrs before an event.

I'm with you on teh a whole year and *now* you want the coat?

I've been doing it since I was 10 and mostly taught myself.

And today, I went to an anime promotional event and one of my clients won first place in the costume contest with the costume I made for her! And she was awesome enough to continually point at me and say "She made it!"

Maybe if you want something REALLY simple, and you're talking to me on October 1 or so, I can hook you up. But most years you have to order months in advance. (As in right now I have exactly ONE major costume project slot in October left.)

Why don't people have half a brain? Seriously why?

My busiest times are August/September (right after Otakon) and March/April (leading up to my "home" convention). Unsurprisingly, May and October are when I turn down the most commissions.

Most of the complaints I get are that I "charge too much". Hey, my skills are freakin' worth it. In fact, I'm tempted to tell my current client that she can't have her costume because I'm so proud with how it turned out!
