Subway ended the $5 footlong promo and changed their prices.
    NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

(No, I won't become an SC about it, but man, that promotion so freakin' rocked. I wonder what the new price of my regular sandwich (BMT footlong) will be now....)

SC: Yeah, I want a footlong Blimpie's Regular.
    I love Blimpie's. I MISS Blimpie's.

    Quoth UncleImpy View Post
SC: How can you not know what is on that?? Are you new??

    CW: Because this isn't Blimpie's?

Cue several seconds of uncomfortable silence. SC leaves redfaced.
He shoots....HE SCORES! Classic! Just simply classic.

It would be even funnier if it happened down here, though, as there is not a Blimpie's in Key West, and as far as I know, not one anywhere in the Keys. Hell, not even sure if they have any in Florida...can't recall seeing any in any of my forays to the peninsula.

This is what I do usually because a footlong is just too much food for me. I find a six incher fills me up nicely.

...or head down to Sheetz, where you can get a foot-long for about $6. Imagine that, a relatively-cheap sandwich with whatever you want on it

GRRR!!!! HOW!? I'll tell you how...you make a fucking budget! You go to the grocery store to shop for groceries that will last you a lot longer than if you eat out all the time! Eating out is a luxury...even fast food. It is MUCH cheaper to plan out your meals and go grocery shopping. Now, I know...a lot of people may whine, "But I don't have TIIIIMMMMEEEE to go grocery shopping!" Fucking hogwash....I can think of no less than 5 groceries stores in a 5 mile radius by my house alone that are open 24 hours!!!!! That's right - 24 hours - to accommodate ANYONE'S schedule. If you *still* don't want to take the time to save money by budgeting and grocery shopping...then suck it up and DEAL WITH THE CHANGE IN PRICES! Consumers are NOT the ONLY people who are having a hard time "in this economy". Businesses are as well!

The rest of this rant would have to go into fratching.

To be honest, Id rather make my own food ... I make a killer sourdough, and it is great with all sorts of stuff on it. Lunch today was sourdough sandwich of manchego cheese, prosciutto, paper thin sliced melon and a sweet german mustard. I think it probably cost $2 to make? And i have the makings for at least 4 more of them.

True. We have several Sheetz locations, but just not one within a 5-7 minute drive of me.

But there is a Subway close enough to the house and another one just a short drive around the corner from work.

Now I'm wanting a classic BMT on Italian Herb and Cheese bread, loaded down with lettuce/tomatoes/onions/green peppers/black olives and banana peppers.

I think the Subways here are still doing the promo - maybe they're being nice because their mascot (Jared) hails from here...Note that we have next to zero other sub places, but then, we don't NEED them. For 2-3 bucks more, you can get a roast beef poboy with better bread, twice as much meat (plus, it's REAL roast beef), with enough gravy on it to soak thru 3 layers of butcher paper if you don't unwrap it soon enough...most place will even give you fries with that for no extra. So wierd.

get the makings and try it for yourself=)

The manchego is sort of buttery/sharpish, almost like a parmesan and it plays off the salty prosciutto and sweet melon, and the sharp of the sweet mustard.

You might like apples, major gray chutney and cheddar cheese on rye wasa crisps =)

Not too dissimilar from my regular Subway fare: footlong BMT with provolone on Parmesan Oregano bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, too many banana peppers, and way too much oil and vinegar.
