If you are a teetotaler, wine rules won't apply to you, as you won't be drinking wine.

As far as "wine rules" as such, the more snooty bunch deems that whites go with fish, reds go with steak, etc....but frankly, if you ask me and anyone who doesn't give a hoot about "proper wine etiquette", the only real wine rule that matters is drink what you enjoy! Sure, a light white wine will be buried by spicy meat, but you might not enjoy the kind of wine that would stand up to it. Also, since I like my fish blackened, and thus spicey, I often drink a full-bodied red with my fish. Screw the purists and their silly rules. Drink what you enjoy!

My ex-fiancee turned me on to Spanish reds, specifically Marques de Caceres. It's very nice, very tasty, even non-wine drinkers tend to like it, it goes with most foods, and it's only $12 a bottle or so at the grocery store. AND, the Marques de Caceres Gran Reserva, at $24 a bottle, is absolutely amazing, too! Those two wines were directly responsible for me switching from being a mostly white wine drinker to being a mostly red wine drinker, and not just Spanish reds, either.

I LOVED Spanish reds. The name of my favorite escapes me.

I get crap like this all the time in the call center I work in. In fact, I've had this in every call center I've worked in. I love the ones who will call in requesting information about a phone product, and when you give them the description, they'll contradict you, saying, "Well, it says on this brochure......." (which expired last month), or "My neighbor has it and she says............" (because these people always know the business of their neighbors, unlike me who could care less).

If you already know more about my job than I do, why are you calling me? Get a life! The library has plenty of books to read. Don't you all have better things to do than call in to a call center or walk into a store and start a fight?

Hey now! I think Beringer is getting a bad rap! Is it stellar, high end wine? No. Is it eminently drinkable? Yes. My stepfather drinks that stuff daily with his meals, though he also enjoys finer wines when is out. As far as blush wines go, it is not bad stuff.

Me, I'll stick to my Spanish reds.....

I LOVED Spanish reds. The name of my favorite escapes me. I also loved Francis Copolla's Claret - YYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!! There were a few bottles that were right at the 10 buck price mark that were absolutely tasty to me too - like Big House Red. The Spanish red I liked was also about 10 bucks. I liked dry red French wines and I liked Oaky Chardonnay's.
