Seriously, I swear today will go down in history at my workplace.
OK, so as anyone who works in a supermarket/department store/mix of both knows, high theft items are usually electronics, baby products, razor blades, personal hygiene products, meat, DVDs etc.
In the case of my store (supermarket), when we get items that we sell that people claim to have bought from another store, we ask for receipts. No receipt, it depends on the product. If it's something like orange juice, we can usually give them the benefit of the doubt. If it's high theft, then we do generally get suspicious.
Today, a lady rocked up to my coworker's register with groceries, but she also had some nappies in her trolley. Coworker asks for receipt, lady cannot produce one. as my coworker attempts to get a manager, the lady starts dropping several f-bombs on my coworker, which causes the other customers in line to start bitching at the lady for swearing in front of their kids!
And it all goes downhill from there....
My awesome manager (AM) comes down at that point and begins to neutralise the situation. by this point, me, two other coworkers, ALL the customers from my register, my coworkers registers and those who were getting ready to leave were watching this lady. She continues to drop f-bombs at my manager, who got really pissed
and started asking her to leave. She refused to, and then....
Sucky Lady: Give me back my money!
All of us:
Sucky lady: That girl ripped me off $50! (points at my coworker)
I honestly don't know if the lady was $50 short or not, but by that point, my manager wanted her to leave. She still refused to leave, so AM calls down the nightfill manager and the two of them escort her out. She has since been banned although of course...she threatened never to shop here again!
Oh and my coworkers register was $9.00 over.
And my manager....
I have never seen him THAT pissed off EVER.
