I never did understand the allure of onboard duty free myself.

There are some items that are only available aboard the airplane. In my case it was a Lego Airline Promotional Set that could only be purchased on the airplane. I couldn't pass up that opportunity.

The only thing I've ever bought from the Duty Free catalog was a bottle of scotch. It's $200 in liquor stores here and $110 on the plane. Or at least was the last time I flew with duty free service. Sometimes i'll goto the duty free store in the airport to get it.
