  • I can't magically make show schedules change...

This happened about 2 weeks ago and it really pissed me off (to the point I was talking about it in the break room with a co-worked and she was shocked I've been doing CSR work for 6 years and this still bothered me).

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is anyone who answers the end of my greeting "...may I have your name please?" With ANYTHING other than their name (I am staring to be okish with people who refuse to identify themselves but say they are calling on behalf of "John Doe" but that still gets under my skin).

We have over a half dozen hotel-casinos in our market and they have from 0-5 shows each.

I KNEW this call was going to suck when the reply to "...may I have your name please?" was. "*name of super famous magician duo with tv and radio show* INFORMATION!"

ME: "I'd be glad to help you what would you like to know?"
    SC: "TIMES!"
(he sounded in a hurry so I did something I shouldn't have done and tried to approximate the time from memory because I had just gone to this show the week before)
ME: "Around 9:30 but let me double check (surfs intranet), oh gosh I was off by a half hour, they perform at 9PM 6 days a week, but I suggest you arrive an hour early because their pre-show is quiet awesome"
SC: "That won't work is their an earlier show you could suggest?"
ME: "Your question is confusing, are you looking for an earlier performance of *famous magician duo" or an earlier show in general?"
SC: (super snotty tone) "*famous magician duo*!"
ME: "They only perform at 9pm I'm sorry about that"
SC: "That is unacceptable I NEED an earlier show, TELL ME when they do an earlier show!"
ME: "They don't but I'd be glad to suggest another show!"
SC: <has hung up without saying a peep>

I hate that shit, if he didn't talk to me like I was a robot, he could have actually gotten help instead of thinking I'm an idiot.

AND, wtf am I supposed to do. *Famous Magician Duo* only performs at 9pm live with it. It's not really a ditch your kids to watch the magic while daddy gambles away their future kinda show anyway if that's what he was thinking. As far as a show for adults 9pm isn't even that damn late lol.

Oh, yeah, *Famous Magician Duo* are definitely not kids fare. 9pm is the time I'd expect them to be starting their show, to be honest.

I'm betting that jerk had to leave that evening, and just didn't plan his itinerary to give him time to actually catch the show.

I dunno, if its who I think it is, their show IS family friendly. They don't have any of the things common in their late night TV program, nor do they cut snakes in half as part of this show.

And yes, their pre-show show, is COMPLETELY worth going to The bigger one is totally the man.

Argh - sympathies. This is something I get all the time (am currently working on my general intro post). According to some of my sc's entire matinees have to change days to accommodate their bad planning...

I'm guessing we're talking about the big, outspoken guy and the smaller, quiet guy.

That's a show I'd kinda like to see sometime when I get out to Vegas again. So far I've just seen a couple of the Cirque du Soleil shows.

Oh God that is one of my major pet peeves as well. My opening script ends with "May I have the cell number you're calling about" and fully half of my customers cannot seem to handle this question. Instead I get

I'm tryna refill my phone! Derrrrrrr...that's why I asked for the number

The phone belongs to John Smith, but my name is Jane Johnson, I want to put minutes on it using my card, for some reason its not going through and I think it is because I put in his pincode wrong, he told me it was 123 but I put in 125 by accident because my sister was talking when he gave it to me and the baby is crying so I didn't hear him and... Good lord just stop for a minute! Catch your breath! I don't need all this information PLEASE STOP TALKING!

I punched it into the computer DON'T YOU HAVE IT IN FRONT OF YOU?!!! why do you need it again!!! I need to verify it to make sure the right information came through...you don't want me adding minutes to someone else's phone do you?

Why did I get sent here? What is going on? All I want to do is put minutes on my phone why is this so hard for you people!!! I don't know what's going on as your info did not come through with your call and I won't be able to tell you what's going on until you give me the number!
Because as we all know, on the Internet all men are men, all women are men and all children are FBI agents.

if it is them then YES go see them, although cique du soleil is good too

and geez if that is the only time they preform, find a different event SC, or plan better, heck when me and hubby where in vegas we made sure to plan everything so we could do everything we wanted and it worked

Hubby is a great planner. We were actually due to go see a favorite mean old comic I love...then the bastard died. He should have swam in the Hudson with the raw sewage more. It worked against polio when he was a kid according to him. :P

So hubby took me to see Phatom of the Opera instead. Little punk didn't even warn me about the chandeler part cause I'd never seen or read anything on the show.

Before that, we went to see Zumanity. Definitely not a kid's show, but a real blast for the mature adults.

Maybe we'll catch the dynamic magician duo next time we're out there.

Yep *famous magic duo* is bigger outspoken guy and little silent dude. I agree their show IS family friendly to a point. The only profanity I remember is when they reference the name of their TV show. For the most part it's a show you CAN bring the kids to, but in my opinions it's NOT a show some parents would want to ditch their kids at unattended.

Big outspoken guy likes to be very vocal about his political and religious beliefs (they burn a American flag wrapped in a copy of the constitution as an act of pure patriotism and a celebration of freedom and it oddly works). They also encourage patrons to purchase a copy of the 4th amendment made of stainless steel to take through airport security (I'm sure our airport has seen it a million times by now and is no longer amused). Also the finale features guns and some people are touchy about that kind of stuff.

So basically I think it's the kind of stuff more conservative parents would like to witness with their kids so they can discuss it after. Not so much vulgar or bawdy but stuff kids might need help processing and digesting.

For a ditch the kids style magic show (not that I advocate kid ditching but I know some people do it) I'd suggest *guy with the white tiger at one of our competitors* or *comedy magic guy who does our afternoon show which is often very cheap due to easily found coupons* (just look for him writhing in a straight jacket on the main drag a few hours before his show and there are coupons nearby).

The pre-show. Oh my gosh I didn't know *big outspoken guy* could play upright bass like that! The tone and phrasing were to die for and he gets on well with semi-famous jazz pianist. I do feel stupid that I didn't realize that *"mystery bassist" in a hat and cape who doesn't talk* was *big outspoken guy* until I met *big outspoken guy* after the show with his hair down (they do handshakes and photos after the show). I'm too damn impressionable, next day I was on craigslist shopping for an upright bass (found one but decided against it). Also was kinda of surprised that *big outspoken guys* bass playing during the main show kinda sucked (his timing and intonation were obviously off, but he was doing A LOT of talking too). I dunno what was up with that? On another musical note, *little silent guy* didn't look happy at all playing bells during his musical bit (it seemed forced and mechanical).

I know who the magic duo are. They had a TV show over here in the UK where after every trick they revealed exactly how they were done.

The caller was told that they only do shows at 9pm so this was just a case of someone who wanted to be told what they wanted to hear.
