Just being honest. We all know that the media jumps on any juicy story they think they can get. Celebrity media is living proof of that.

The idea of payment in advance is nice, and good in general, but standard payment for a one-shot musician (at least around here) is that best option is you get paid day-of. Maybe they can hand you the cheque when you arrive, but if you insist on getting paid in advance you're probably going to lose gigs to the surfeit of musicians on the job market, who are used to getting paid after the fact.

True, but from working in the industry myself, I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather lose a few gigs here and there than to do gigs and get stiffed. Luckily, that didn't happen this time, but I like to not give people the opportunity. Getting paid day of before you perform is the best way to go.

Oh, I pretty much knew that that was standard. And I was not suggesting to F&F to do that all the time with all gigs. Just with the school in question. And she has a valid reason to demand payment in advance from them: the current situation. Their history of payment sucks, so for her to do more gigs for them, I would definitely demand payment in advance, refundable of course if for any reason F&F can't actually do the gig.

I signed the contract on Tue, Dec. 6. (My birthday)
I got the check Mon, Jan. 11. (... uh... Day after my friend Megumi's birthday...?)
