Wenchie. Send some presents to the nieces/nephews (I second the noisy vote). But for the adults, send a simple bland, happy holidays card. DO NOT spend money on them. Take the money you would have spent on their worthless, ungrateful asses and pamper yourself with it. There's always the possibility the under 18's will become worthwhile human beings, but I'd say the adults have already proven themselves beyond redemption (IMO). Don't let them make you into what they want to see. Accept that they are assholes. It's a hell of a lot easier on you, and you'll find yourself happier once you do.

Hey honey, by next summer the Hubster and I will be moved into our very first apartment, and we'll have a sofa bed. If you ever want to see Nova Scotia, summer or fall is the best time. We could show you around, feed you, get you good and drunk, and stuff.

Neither of us have families we can happily associate with anymore either. Well, except for my baby brother and his family, they're awesome, just too far away. So we know where you're at, and what it's like.
