    I can't see how two could be trapped outside in that way, let alone six. If I were locked out in the rain and called someone to let me in, I would be standing just outside the door waiting. I wouldn't wait for the next person to go all the way out and the doors to close, I would jump out of the rain as soon as the door opened.
    I'm probably guilty in thinking .

      I don't understand. Are there 2 sets of doors maybe? That's the only way I can think that SIX people could get locked outside!

      Otherwise... WTF!?

        I think there is only one proper response to this:

        BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAaaaaaa

        *gasps*

        *catches breath*

          Idiots. Pure idiots.

          And if CRML hadn't seen them, would the entire class have ended up standing outside in the rain, like a Japanese horror movie I saw not too long ago.
          To seek it with thimbles, to seek it with care;
          To pursue it with forks and hope;
          To threaten its life with a railway share;
          To charm it with forks and hope!

            Only if those doors would lead to a woodchipper.

              Wow...the story reads like the plot of an early 80's sitcom and the fact that this really happened is what makes it sadder.

                I could only think of a certain song at this stupidity:

                "They tell us that
                We lost our tails
                Evolving up
                From little snails.
                I say it's all
                Just wind in sails.
                Are we not men?
                WE ARE DEVO!"

                (Yes, the De-evolution principle is proven once again!)

                  There is so much failure of logic with these ones...

                  At no time did anyone mention to a friend on the phone that they were locked out of the building, could you please come and HOLD THE DOOR OPEN FOR US?

                  I can give a little leeway to the first two, but after that...

                  Dare I ask what the evening class they were taking was?

                    Me: But I don't understand. How did you not make it back in on time when the doors were opened? The automatic doors stay open for several seconds before they close.

                    All I got were blank stares. They all returned to their classes, while muttering things like "Ridiculous!" and "Outrageous!" under their breaths.
                    maybe it was the light reflecting off the raindrops that distracted them?? (ooh, shinies!) wow, that is some serious lack of sense on their parts.
                    look! it's ghengis khan!
                    Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

                      I'm imagining "Oh, hi Kate, I just stepped out and those damned doors wouldn't open.
                      "Poor you and it's raining so."
                      "Yes, we have had some horrible weather."
                      "We certainly have. We must hope next week... Darn, the doors closed."
                      "Oh, I'll call Karen. Stupid doors."
                      A little while later.
                      "Oh, hi Karen"
                      Repeat five times.

                        Now that's a bit spooky - I found myself thinking of this song today, for no reason at all, hadn't thought of it for years.... and I log on and here it is quoted....

                          I find it entertaining this story was posted within a week of a report being published that states high schools and colleges, in general, are failing to teach students critical thinking skills.
                          You can't teach a skill you don't possess.

                              If they were opening the door for her to get in why did they even go outside? Wouldn't it have been a much better idea to just hold the door open while she came in?
