My only food allergy is avocado. I don't even know if I'm really allergic, because I've never managed to swallow any. I just have a spit reflex if I put it in my mouth--the second it hits my tongue, back out it goes! I first encountered some in some sushi, and figured out that the sushi wasn't disgusting if I poked out the green stuff. Later I discovered I hated guacamole. Then the second time I had sushi, I promptly started poking the green stuff out of my sushi and someone finally told me it was avocado I'd been avoiding. I figure that if I have such a strong "GET IT OUT!" reaction to it, it's probably bad for me, and I've been avoiding it ever since.
I've been told that an allergy to avocado isn't unusual in someone who is also allergic to natural rubber and latex, which I am. I don't know if that's true, or why, since the plants aren't related.

I just have to watch out, because some can be marketed as 'non-latex' despite still having natural rubber compounds, and I'm allergic to both. Latex and rubber = itchy, polyurethane and polyisoprene = just fine. Female condoms seem to be generally non-latex as their default.
