Training customers is mostly quite easy.
And sometimes quite entertaining as well.

Some of the regulars at The Bar know that I am also a magician, and from time to time I have done some tricks for them when it's not too busy. But of course, there will be times when it is slamming, and they are themselves slammed, and in the middle of all the chaos, they'll all for me to do magic tricks. Which is simply Not Happening. My first priority when I am tending bar is to tend bar...magic tricks are way down the list.

But of course, sometimes these regulars just don't get it. Amazing what alcohol can do to an otherwise rational brain.

Anyway, one time one of the more obnoxious and vociferous of the group kept going on about it, despite my repeatedly declining. Finally he made some comment about how it wasn't that busy (it was), I should do some tricks, etc., etc. Basically telling me how to do my job. Finally I wheeled around on him.

ME: "Look pal, I don't come to your job and tell you how to sell drugs to children, do I?"
    HIM:
    HIS FRIENDS:

"The Customer Is Always Right...But The Bartender Decides Who Is
    Still A Customer."

Misty, OP, I know this is OT, but are you safe in Japan? We hear so much terrible news here in the states about what is going on.
Thank you for your concern, vloglady! I am perfectly fine. I live in central Japan, while all of the devastation you're seeing on TV happened in Northeastern Japan. The country west of Tokyo wasn't affected by the earthquake/tsunami at all. It's kind of surreal, actually; looking at the images on TV it's almost like I'm not in the same country.

Anyway, back to the topic. Customer training: it's a good idea, but in this case it's too little too late. Like I said, this drama has been going on for a long time; if the teachers had tried harder to correct her behavior from the beginning (nip it in the bud, as it were), it might not have come to this. I guess everyone can learn a lesson here.

Maybe you could give her some lessons on American etiquette? I'm sure Miss Manners covers 'give other people a turn, too' somewhere in her books.

Or, heck, just point her at Miss Manners with the explanation that this is where Americans turn when they're not sure about etiquette. Just knowing the language isn't going to be much help in the US if her obnoxious manner drives away the people she meets.

I'm not known for having a heart here, but maybe Yuki is lonely and doesn't have any friends. It would explain why she hangs around all day. I understand her behavior drives people away, but perhaps she lacks the proper social skills. If you have no problem with her one-on-one she just may feel intimidated around groups of people and acts obnoxious to try to hide it.

Or maybe she's just a wacky bitch.
