Or, tales from online parts sales:
The people that don't sell it have it cheaper
"Can you match this price? *link* It's cheaper than what you're asking and it's brand new"
Okay, I'll price match within reason. Fair question. Then I got to the site.
"Sir, it's not a new part and they don't have it in stock. I will, however beat ___ seller and sell it to you for $X, which is the cheapest price for this part on the net right now"
I've heard nothing yet.
REALLY?? You want me to drop my price by half to match a company's price that doesn't even effing sell it anymore? WTH, dude?
I live near you- will you install the part I buy for free?
That's right. I was seriously asked this. It wasn't for a little T-Con, either- it was for a light engine. Here's a link to one that someone else is selling. This is a large job. Even if it were a small job the question is rather galling.
I might have cut him some slack if he just asked for help (still would have said no, but he wouldn't have ended up here), but to ask us to come over and just do it for free? GAH! I told him that we would charge a service call and the appropriate hourly charge for the installation if he chose to do it.
But, as the title states, at least they didn't argue with me...
