    Unfortunately we don't have a customer service desk. My guess is it would mean extra staff and of course they don't want that. And the people who shop there don't seem to have twigged yet to the fact that management is basically saying their (customers') time isn't worth a damn so if they have something to return or exchange, they can just get in line with all those who are buying stuff, and if the lineups are 8 people long at each register, well, tough noogies.

    I miss the days of being able to watch prices as they're being rung (bagging your own stuff, running debit card, scanning being faster than punching in, etc.) but I DO watch the things I might have a concern about, like whether something is eligible for a coupon or whatnot.

    Bad consumer = sucky customer.
    There is a screen that faces the customer and I've often had people stare (unblinkingly, LOL) at it while I run their stuff through. Doesn't bother me as they've been known to catch errors that I didn't, so more power to 'em. But yeah, she had maybe 6 items and was off in her own little universe while they were being rung up.

    Thanks, LOL. The system is extremely out of date, but I doubt it will be seeing an overhaul anytime soon. ALL the registers would have to be inoperable -- and unfixable -- for that to happen.
