Actually, a lot of people simply don't like their personal info stored by corporations, etc. because they often store it on systems with little or no security against hackers, so who know who could end up with it. And I do agree that policy should be to tell a person before they scan your ID that they're going to scan it.

That said, no one should have to put up with crap like the SC in the original post, and anyone should have enough common sense (oops, we are talking SC's aren't we) to realize the person scanning their ID is certainly not the person who dictates policy. Going off on the poor person checking ID's and following their companies policy isn't going to change a thing, and is entirely uncalled for.
Good point, should have included that issue as well.

Along with the caveat that even if you agree with these concerns, it does not excuse being a raging tool to some poor clerk who's just doing her job.

Hey, if jerk knows he doesn't like corporations having his info, then maybe he should, oh, I don't know, be a little bit prepared and hit his bank up for cash instead of going through a corporation to get his money.

That seems a little stupid to me, to be quite honest. Pissing and moaning at the people doing him a favor because he couldn't take the time to be prepared.

Also, this is a casino. What do you want to bet this same idiot has a players' club card?

^This. In fact, many companies were caught storing these in the first place because their databases were hacked and all the information stolen.
I did not know this. But when I think about it, I don't care if hackers know my a) weight b) height c) age d)eye color. Anyone lookin' at me can see that. :/

Some people are really paranoid about either the government or big corporations tracking your every move and purchase. In the case of the former, it's the off the grid guys who want to keep everything about their personal lives personal.

And I actually don't have a problem with that. The government does collect way too much information on its citizens.

So do corporations, and this I really dislike because it's used for marketing purposes and is a driver of junk mail and spam. One of these days the ad boys will figure out how to do rolling targeted 3D billboards that activate and target you simply when you walk by ala "Minority Report."
Thanks Panacea, and others for their input. I probably have the wrong attitude towards this: corporations can send me as much crap as they like -- I don't read any of it anyway. Partly because I'm a starving student at the momenht but generally because ... well, because it's crap.
But I can understand people who just don't like having their info collected and stored who knows where under who knows what (possibly lousy) security conditions. However ... doesn't excuse idiots like this from yelling at the people who have no choice in the matter.

maybe it is extreme, but it is the policy; he could have gone elsewhere, but chose to do business at anaka's store, so he's stuck with the policy's procedures. no sympathy for him; he made his choice-acting like a petulant child made it take longer than necessary. you can be assured, however, had this been fraud, the real owner would cuss up a storm had the policy NOT been enforced. can't win, can't choke them, either.

It was a black light. And get this I got into trouble for NOT standing up there and letting him call me a bitch and cuss me out. GO figure!! I understand it is scary and somewhat intrusive but if you're staying in the hotel we've got a lot more than that.

Just stepping into a casino, we can find out all the info we want. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to tell him I just black lighted his ID but he had me so frazzled I couldn't speak right. We get so many fake ones its ridiculous.

Sadly we aren't allowed to put out of order on the ATM since we don't own it. It's up to the idiots who actually own the machine to do stuff to it. We'd get in BIG trouble if we did anything. Technically it still works since you can get your money I guess. I hate my job.

All I care is that the government doesn't find out how I get my jollies off.

I don't care if they know what's on my ID. I lied about my height and weight, anyway.

The height and weight on my ID was valid at the time it was issued three years ago. My height has remained constant, but my weight keeps changing, in a generally downward direction. Not that anyone checking my ID has a ruler or scales handy to verify what the ID says.
