So I work in a large store, an though we are mostly known for selling furniture, we also sell a lot of smaller products too. A lot of customers come throuh just to buy one item (most often, just napkins.) They are usually fine with it, because they now what they're getting in to when they come.
But one day this lady complained to me, saying it was such a long way through the store for just one item...
Me: Yeah, our stores are pretty big.
Sc: Well it's too much. Tell your manager I won't be back.
Uh... OK lady. What exactly is my manager going to do for you? No one at store level is responsible for store planning, and even if we were, we wouldn't be building a special small store just for you. You an buy napkins anywhere. So if you don't want to walk through our store, go somewhere else. I assure you, we won't be missing your occasional $1.99.

(although I do think you have to get out and pay, but generally you can drive in, pull up, tell them what you want and they'll load it)
