  • A Lack of Prep on Your Part.....You Know How it Goes

Today I had the privelage of overhearing this EW's conversation with a call-center girl. I only heard one side of it, but it was very easy to figure out what was going on.

EW calls whining about how Mister Trucker didn't come get her freight and she is very angry.
Call Center Girl asked her a few questions to pull up the order in question on her computer screen. After looking things over, she notices that Mister Trucker did show up to pick up her freight and informs EW of this.
EW agrees that Mister Trucker did come by, but quickly adds that he left without the freight and didnt come back to get it.
CCG reads further and sees a note from Mister Trucker. The note, more or less, stated Mister Trucker went to get EW's freight at the time SHE chose but her freight was scattered all about and not all ready and wrapped up on a pallet like it was supposed to be. EW said she would get it ready and told him to wait, so he did....for 35 minutes. After all that time, she was still not ready and he had other pickups to do so he left. CCG tries to tell EW this.
EW won't have that so she talks over CCG and complains that Mister Trucker should be reprimanded for leaving like that after she told him to wait.
CCG finally gets a word in edgewise and tells EW that the truck drivers are on a very tight schedule and, because of this, are only allowed to wait 20 minutes and are supposed to leave after that time so Mister Trucker was extremely generous in giving her 15 extra minutes.
CCG's words go in one ear and out the other (hitting nothing inbetween) and EW starts demanding Mister Trucker come back and get her freight as it's ready now and wants to know exactly when he'll arrive.
CCG informs EW that Mister Trucker has already moved on and is busy picking up other freight and delivering it so he will not have time to come back and get her freight, once again adding that he is on a VERY TIGHT SCHEDULE.
EW demands he come back this instant as she is ready now.
CCG basically says, too bad, you shoulda been ready at the pickup time YOU set. She tells EW all she can do at this point is reschedule a new pickup time for tomarrow.
After much ranting and whining and acting like an entitled bitch, she caves and CCG helps her choose a new pickup time.

YOU picked the time! Get your shit together! And if Mister Trucker gave me a half hour, I'd get my ass in gear getting things done and be thankful he was kind enough to wait, not lolly-gag and then get pissed when he leaves. Other people have pickup times too, he can't drop everything to wait for one special snowflake.

BTW, her pickup time was 2pm. She called saying she was ready at 7pm. So, she wanted Mister Trucker to tell all his other pickups to shove it and hang out at her store for 5 hours because she deosn't unterstand the compexity of punctuality and deadlines. Yeahhhhhhell no....

      Ugh. Unbelievable.

Part of me wonders if she was so insistent because she got in trouble with HER boss for screwing up. Aaaah, I can dream.

I just hope she has to pay extra for the re-scheduled pickup date.
        I still miss my ex.
But my aim is getting better.

I feel for Mister Trucker having to deal with that . . . wouldn't surprise me if DaddyDG has encountered that before on his route (he's a driver for one of the big chains that starts with an E.)

No wonder he has days when he's been out on the route for 12 hours or so . . .

I think you've hit the nail on the head, Mama. She probably did get in trouble, promise to "fix it," TODAY and was desperate to make it happen, which of course it didn't.

One would hope it would be a lesson learned, but more than likely it'll be an excuse to trash truckers and continue to dodge the blame.

Let's see.... Pick-up Detention billed at some (VERY) high rate/hour (in 1 hour increments, of course)... Might have sped things up a bit. Of course, she'd bitch about having to pay to make someone wait.

After reading the OP's story, I somehow got a mental image of the SC standing there with her hands on her hips, shouting at the driver

"WELL, YOU DON'T EXPECT ME TO PACK IT TO, DO YOU???"

Perhaps, somewhere in the vast openness of her mind, she confused 'delivery drivers' with 'movers'...

Good grief, what an EW. As my dear and much missed grandma would say: "The Earth is not the centre of the Universe and neither are you". 13 words that stupid entitlment whore would do well to bear in mind.

Funny, I was just listening to that song tonight as well. But not that version, the one by The Wonder Who?

(it was actually Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, but they couldn't use the name as they were moonlighting on another record company, not to mention that it was kind of a joke recording to start with.)

I've worked in the freight industry, you'd be surprised how many SC get their butt into gear when they find out they will be charged for wait time!

I think some companies charged for showing up to collect freight and having no one there, or it's not ready and they have to come back another day. I can't for the life of me think of what it's called, I've been out of the game since 09.. Most stressful job of my life!

Some? I haven't seen a one of our clients that doesn't charge for "freight not ready" stop.

Granted, we deal mostly with truckload, not LTL, so it might be different there.

We dealt in medical goods, 99% of packages were between 2 & 4kgs. Except for when there was large equipment to be moved. We only had one 10 pallet truck, and 5 vans.

I remembered what I was trying to say last night, a FUTILE charge. I think it was incurred when they've tried to deliver something more than once, and haven't been able. Goods are returned and the charge applied.

With regards to wait fees and futiles though, it seemed to be a case by case thing. Good customers weren't charged, pain in the butt EW's were.

I would have charged all of them across the board, cos really they were all EW's!
