A Lack of Prep on Your Part.....You Know How it Goes

Damn. At times like this it makes me realize... for some people we need phrases worse than "EW"

Once many, many, MANY years ago I agreed to help my friend Cat and her idiot boyfriend move. I made it clear to Cat that I was merely going to be there to load furniture and boxes on to the truck at one end, and off of it at the other end. She assured me that that is all they needed me for, AND that they would be ready to start loading the moving truck when I got there, which was something like 2 or 3 pm.

Well, as I'm sure you've figure out by now, that is NOT how it went. I showed up at the designated time, walk into the house expecting to start hauling boxes and furniture....and immediately notice that there is still a lot of shit to be packed. And by that I mean she still had her knickknacks out on the living room tables. Most of her furniture was not broken down ready for the move, her kitchen was mostly NOT packed up, etc. You get the idea.

Well, what I expected to just be a few hours of work went on ENDLESSLY, mostly waiting for shit to get packed up, or trying to help them do it. By the time everything got done, and in the truck, and driven a few miles away to the new reisdence, and unloaded....it was 3 freakin' am. HOURS after we should have been done, and hours after we WOULD have been done if they had, in fact, been ready when I got there.

Years later, Cat once again asked for help moving, this time with a different idiot boyfriend. I made it REALLY clear what I thought of the last experience I had helping her, and she promised that this time would be different....and lo and behold, when I got there, everything was, in fact, packed up, ready to be loaded. HALLELUJAH!
