The only thing I hate about the Visa gift cards is that, for whatever reason, we:

    1. Can't scan the card and see how much is left on it.
    2. Can't swipe the card and have whatever is left automatically taken from the total.

I don't understand why Visa doesn't make either of those options possible. Why can't I just swipe the damn gift card, Visa? WHY? Why is it so damn important that I know the EXACT AMOUNT on the card? You cause me so much grief.
I got one of those to the mall for Christmas. I remember how much of a PITA they were when I worked there. So much so that I know I'm going to apologize when I use it. I'm making sure I use it all at once. Even so, I know it's going to go over and I know a split transaction with those can be a PITA, too.

Like the guy who wanted to get his 3 year-old a DS. I think a child that young is a bit too young to get much enjoyment out of a DS. I explained to him multiple times that he'd be better off with a Gameboy Advance or a Leapster type thing, but he wouldn't have it.
Very much agreed. Heck, I believe even the big N agrees with you -- it's just that their objection is with regards to the 3D effect; they don't recommend it for kids under six at all.

Can you tell me if there are any non-violent shooting games?
Don't know if they're available for home systems, but I've seen in coin-op:
Carnival King Arcade Shooter (cartoonish shooting gallery - obvious that you're not shooting at live critters)
Sport Shooting USA (realistic depiction of target range)
A lot of the bonus games in Big Buck Hunter
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

Let me guess. Someone stole the SC's sweetroll.

Also a plethora of [mostly terrible] paintball games. We're assuming he meant FPS games, as I could come up with a couple of side-scrollers, and maybe even a top-down vertical shooter, if need be.

Speaking of Duck Hunt -- if yer really bored, plug a spare controller into port 2; the second one should be able to control the ducks in flight.

Many many moons ago I had a friend whose mother refused to let her play video games, even Tetris.

The closest reasoning mom and I could come up with was that the lines "die" when you complete them so it's violent. Or something.
