  • Wish I could tell you why your wrong

So when a customer talks to me about their account I cannot discuss any other accounts even if they were for the same address.

Today I had a customer call in upset because she was having an issue with her landlord.

In her words, "It's because I am black"

She feels that before her landlords always paid the gas as part of the rent for the previous tenants.

Since I can see all the previous accounts and can see that the accounts were not under the landlord's name I know this was not the case and that she is wrong about it being common practice that they just aren't doing for her because "I am black"

Unfortunately I can't tell her this because I can't discuss other people's accounts. Then she is telling me that she had made a payment to her landlord for gas service during a time that they ended up covering for her and she wanted to know why it hadn't posted to her account yet.

Come to find out from her that they submitted the payment on their own account so I adv her that then they are probably not aware that would have posted to their account and not hers and that she should communicate that to them.

Again in her words, "Oh no they know that's what happened"

Really because you had no clue so how were they supposed to know?

Then it turns out she is wrong about everything. She hasn't actually paid them yet. They have been telling her she needs to pay them for the payment they made.

What she never bothered telling them is that she backdated her service when she finally started it to go back to the day she first moved in.

I found that out when she asked me to call them and talk to them. When I did they got to find out there was a credit on their account that we are sending back to them for the amount they thought she needed to pay them.

This because her communication with everyone is as follows, "Fix this why isn't it fixed, it's cuz I am black I know"

Uhm no lady it's because your yelling about everyone else discriminating against you instead of communicating with anyone.

If she started blaming you for it also, you should have shoved back with, 'Lady, I'm black also" (doesn't matter if it is true). Of course then she would be upset cause you wouldn't 'help a sister out'.
One place I worked had a joke email list. you had to sign up to be on it, and it clearly stated there would be all kinds of jokes. Someone sent round the If Santa was Italian (Mafia) joke and a few days later a co-worked (let's call him Kevin) sent around the If Santa was Ghetto (black) version of the same joke. An hour later, Kevin comes to me (I was the senior of my dept and a friend of his) and asks me if he is allowed to be offended by one of the people on the joke list. Seems she called him (she worked in the office in another state), and demanded 'Are you black?". Being caught by surprise he honestly answered 'yes' and she then told him that was okay, because otherwise she was going to complain his joke was racist. (mind you she liked the Italian version). I told Kevin that her demand was racist and especially since it made him uncomfortable, he had the right to report her to a Manager, which he did. She was disciplined for being racist, and removed from the list even though she demanded to be kept on it.

Teskeria - I had to say that I am a bit stunned at the common sense response to her complaint. Instead to shooting down the list for everyone, they only removed the one that had shown she was too thin skinned to be allowed access to humor? Amazing.

Ahhh, the customers who like to use the racial card again. Doesn't that shit ever get old? One of my managers got yelled at by a black customer who accused him of "racism" just because my boss said that they didn't have a certain item in stock, and my boss was BLACK as well!!! He told me, "I just don't get people like that!"

        Well, who would??? UGH!

An SC is an SC, no matter that excuse they prefer to use to try and make others bow down to them.

People who are accustomed to pulling THE CARD for every complaint do not actually stop to think about whether it might be applicable before using it...or even possible -- what, do they think the utility companies have video cameras that can see through phone lines when the phone on the other end doesn't support video...? ~_~

Back in the BBS days we told some people we had reverse video on our TRS-80s.

Heh. My first computer was a Trash-80 Color Computer. Taught myself BASIC on it. Not Visual Basic, plain ol' Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code (should it scare me that I remembered that without even trying? )...Next was a TI-99 4/a, then a C64, then a generic ...thing running GEM DOS (ugh) and/or Windows 3.11...
