Well, the city was named after the Vale of Tempe in Greece. There's are also places named Tempe in New South Wales, Australia and outside Bloemfontein, South Africa. Still, at least it's pretty unique in the USA.

It seems that someone had seen "Ontario", and (probably because virtually all "Ontario" shipments they saw were handled this way) put it on the trailer to Canada (which, curiously enough, has the postal abbreviation "CA").

And this, my friends, is why actually looking at postal codes is so important. My company dealt with an Ontario, CA mix-up quite a few years back; thankfully, it only got as far as shipping quotes before it was straightened out.

Oddly enough, despite being not to far a drive from Ontario, California, this mix-up was the same way: They were trying to get shipping quotes to Canada, which (back before UPS had Standard ground service to Canada) made a quite notable difference in price.
