Hi Everyone! This is my first post, so I figured I'd make it a happy one!
This happened almost 3 years ago now. I had studied abroad in Germany for six months and was finally coming home in mid-July. Of course, having never taken an international flight into the US, I didn't realize that having an hour and a half to change flights at JFK was not nearly enough time. By the time I got through customs, got my luggage and finally found the Delta gate (after almost losing my passport and getting lost)... I missed check-in by a few minutes. Even though the flight was delayed by 45 minutes, the computer had locked me out (confirmed by my sister's boyfriend's mother who worked for Delta). The Delta manager was very nice about it and I understood there was nothing I could do. The next flight they had was in the morning, but I had nowhere to stay. Now I knew from friends studying with me that JetBlue had a later flight into Boston that night, so I call my mom and have her book it while I try to find the right terminal.
At this point I was a mess. I had been traveling for 10 or so hours, was homesick, stressed, etc. I also had two overweight suitcases, an extra bag, my purse and my laptop. I finally got to the JetBlue counter and blurted out tearily "Hi. I missed my other flight. My mom booked me onto the flight to Boston, but I don't know the booking number. I also have two overweight bags and an extra bag to check" This wonderful man simply asked for my mom's name and told me he was only going to charge me $50 for the extra bag and that was it! He got me all set up and was super nice. Ever since then I have only flown JetBlue, simply because that counter guy was so absolutely wonderful!
