  • Epic customer fielding SCs for us!

I work with a couple of awesome chefs and I'll probably post more about them some time. Usually at breakfast in the hotel, I'm working behind the omelet station and somebody else is cooking food and refilling the buffet. I was working with one of the chefs that morning and he had been particularly frustrated how when he comes out with a cart full of food to refill the buffet with, people will walk directly between him and the pan he was about to replace and then complain that it's empty. Then, somebody from the other side of the buffet will start yelling at him that something else is empty. If they used their eyeballs, they could see that the very item they wanted was on his cart and he was working his way around. Thanks to these people, it takes three times as long as it should to refill the buffet.

One awesome hotel guest saw this happening and decided to help. He was up at the buffet when the chef came out with his cart to refill it and started herding people. "Out of his way, people! He's coming through!" As the chef moved on to the next chafing dish: "Move it along! You want more bacon, you're gonna need to give him room!" Then an SC started complaining from the other side that the eggs were low. Awesome guest: "Can't you see it's right here on his cart? Just be a little patient! He's filling the bacon right now!" SCs were bristling left and right, but as he was a guest himself, he could get away with it.

The chef thanked the guy as soon as he could and made him an offer. If he would stay for the rest of breakfast and do that, he'd make him steak and eggs. (We have an upscale steakhouse open for breakfast and lunch and steak is definitely NOT available for the complimentary hotel breakfast.) The guy said it sounded like a lot of fun and would love to do it even without the steak and eggs and would have if he didn't have to get to work. He understood and explained to the chef that he knows we can't say these things and that people were being very frustrating, so he took it upon himself to say the things we couldn't.

    Awesome.

That sounds like something my youngest younger brother would do. He's a project manager at a large corporation now but he worked for years at a hotel brunch buffet and can't stand SCs.
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

      Awesome Customer,

Reading along, I was almost expecting the Chef, after replacing all of the buffet items, to turn to AC to thank him, only to find him to have vanished into thin air!

Kinda as if AC had been a Guardian Angel.

Yeah, I did something similar to this last week. Our waitress was having a nervous breakdown to the point she was literally crying while taking orders. Multiple crappy tables and she forgot to put an order in and this couple was PISSED. Manager came out offered to personaly oversea everything and comp the meal since they had been waiting for 30min (that includes the time it took to order couple drinks) and would take another 15-20 or so to cook the food. Since she was still being pissy, as we were leaving I turned to her and told her maybe she should calm down and quit being a bitch as the girl was doing the best she could and granted it unacceptable she forgot to put the order in and your having to wait but now your getting a free meal and really when your waitress is having a breakdown and crying you really don't need to make it worse on the poor girl, I hate people like you where I work. It took everything I had to not give her the finger, which really nobody would have faulted me, to bad the poor waitress was in the back since she was kinda hot and really didn't deserve the shit she was getting.

Oh and then it occured to me what a real bitch this woman was, probably $10 for two alcoholic drinks (just a guess). Maybe another $30 for two entrees. and hell I'm sure the manager was gonna throw in desert too. but lets ignore that and call it $40 for the meal that doesn't have to be paid. and two people waiting for a half hour each is a total of one hour waiting. So, I wonder what job they have that it isn't worth $40 tax free for a hour to shutup. Altough, I guess if I ever want a free meal I need to make more of a scene.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.
