A couple checks in to the hotel at a 1am a few nights ago. They called a head to make sure I would be ready for them. So they already have bonus points in my book. I kind of dislike walkins when I'm on shift because it's the middle of the night and I'm usually playing video games, which makes me feel really unprofessional. Plus the heads up let's me prepare all the paperwork to make things go smoothly.
So the couple arrives, and the first thing the girl does is start asking me about the novel I'm reading. She's a huge fan of vampire novels, not Twilight just real vampire novels, and she's curious about my selection. She had heard abotu the author, but really wanted a real persons opinion. She actually came up to talk about books a few times before going to sleep. Which I loved. I get lonely on Night Shift.
However, the best part was when I took them down to look at the room. I explained that we charged the same for 1 Double rooms and we do for 2 double rooms so they get two for the price of one. When we get to the room, the guy looks around for a bit, then turns to his girl and says;
"I really want to make a Fort!" He has a huge grin and his companion is laughing in a "great idea" kind of way.
They didn't rush me. They didn't complain. They were fun to talk to. Plus who doesn't love an old fashioned Blanket Fort. ^-^
