I was at an airshow today and have to note... just how polite all the ROTC kids were.
Granted I'm always tempted to say "I'm not a "ma'am"!" but I know the kids were really trying to be polite.
I'll probably post bout the airshow later but I wanted to give the kids kudos for their manner and bearing while it's fresh in my mind.

I really don't know where the idea comes from that it's just a title for old ladies.
It's way more polite than what I usually get, which is hon, sweetie, dear, etc. That just drives me nuts.
