What does "imminent" mean?

(CW = Husband's co-worker, H = my husband)

CW: My computer keeps giving me this annoying message. It says "Hard drive failure imminent". What does that mean?
H: Um, it means that hard drive failure is imminent. Back up what you have immediately and get it in to Tech Support.
CW: Okay. I'll just finish up these reports then and get it in first thing next week.
H: I'd do it immediately if I were you.
CW: I really wanna get these reports done first. The computer will let me know if its about to crash, right?
H: Yes, it would. It is telling you that right now. HARD DRIVE FAILURE IMMINENT.
CW: So what do you think, then? I got a few days?

Hopefully he didn't say yes to CW - if he did, then either seconds after CW talked to him to the next day when the drive fails, CW would blame him for the loss of data.

Not that I've ran into a situation like this...
