I do basic Tier 1 tech support for a certain ISP and I take calls for basic email issues. If it's not an issue on our end or if it's beyond email client setting issues, they have to contact OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
Me: Yours Truly
SL: Sucky Lady
*Thoughts*
Me: Thank you for calling ISP, this is Tropicsgoddess, how can I help you.
SL: I can't delete any emails
Me:Ma'am, are you having this problem with your webmail or with an email client program like Outlook Express?
SL: Uh, I think Outlook Express
Me: Have you tried selecting the email, clicking the x on the top to delete it?
SL:Yes and it didn't work
Me: Have you tried selecting the email, right clicking it to delete it?
SL: Yes and I've been having this problem since I changed to your server.
Me: Ma'am, I would be more than happy to help you, but unfortunately from what it seems you're having issues within Outlook Express and the issues you're having are beyond our scope and you would need to contact Microsoft since it's their product.
SL: You're supposed to help me out, I have internet service with you! This is because of your servers!
Me: If it were the servers, then you wouldn't be able to send and/or receive email, but since it's not allowing you to delete emails in Outlook Express, that is an issue with the program itself and you would still need to contact Microsoft since that is their product and also (again) this issue is beyond our scope of support.
SL: I don't agree with you, I've had this computer for 7 years and it was working fine until I turned on my computer this morning!!
*Lady, you're so full of shit, just shut up already*
Me: The issue you're having could be well that something within Outlook Express became corrupt, especially given how old your computer is and I will reiterate that the issue your having still needs to be addressed with Microsoft since it is ultimately their product.
*Lather, rinse repeat until SL finally gives up*
SL: *hmph* I'll call them and then I'll callback later *hangs up*
Me: And thanks for calling ISP.
*stupid bitch*
Why is it that people always blame every freaking problem their computer has, especially the ones with the old ass computers on their ISP?!!
