Yeah I'm so used to leaving Cleric Stance on while soloing that I totally forgot to turn it off during the guildhests. The first one, I was pulling aggro just from the healing, but that was the one with the kinda meh tank. The second one went much better, I just had a couple of the minions on me that I was able to take care of since THAT tank barely needed any healing.

Oh dear Gord that quest to unlock Titan was a pain. Freaking AWESOME payoff in the cutscenes, tho -- and some of the item descriptions made me come close to breaking Rule #1 ^_^ (especially the goblin cheese description). Set aside several HOURS of time for all of the fetch quests involved and the crap they put you through. For FOOD.

Then again, I can't complain too much -- it meant hanging out at Costa Del Sol a lot. If the place wasn't imaginary, I could live there

Took a couple tries to beat that cheap hunk of rock, too, but we did it! This game keeps coming up with ways to surprise me.

Another note on Conjuror - Later on, you get Regen (and, I think, Medica II, which is a group heal AND a Regen). These spread the aggro gain out over time. They're great for healing up the non-tanks right after a big attack (that you know won't be repeated). If they're not gonna get another big hit in the next 15 seconds or so, use Regen instead of Cure; they'll get healed and you draw less of an aggro spike. Also, if they're THAT worried about having maxed out HP, EVERY class has access to a cross-class heal of some kind, if not two, unless I'm mistaken; many of the Jobs have access to at least one.. They just gotta go level the appropriate subclass (CNJ2, ACN4, PUG8).

I don't know if the party in question was that worried about staying at full health; I tend to obsessed about it as a healer, especially knowing how hard enemies hit and how quickly health can drop on you in this game (and also coming from FFXI).

The character I'm most attached to at the moment is on Leviathan. Still waiting for the server snarls to work themselves out so me and hubs can decide where we're going to play together. Right now our characters seem to be on servers that are full and not accepting new characters. I know server transfers are happening at some point. I still have what will probably be my future Black Mage on Sargatanas but I just haven't felt like playing her much since rolling Dom up.

My thauma-blackmage just got up to 40. I'd probably be damn near 50 by now if I hadn't stopped to level acn, cnj, arc, weaver, and leather >_> I'd have more money, too. Granted, one of those was mandatory and another was a good idea, but still...

Also, holy mother-kupo-ing crap on a crap sandwich with crap on top O_O Level 40 is THE uber-level for BLM, apparently. The passive gained at that level:
- Amps damage you do
- Improves healing you do (not huge)
- Allows 3 stacks of fire/ice (in both cases: Significantly increases damage (and MP costs) for the associated spell type, while drastically reducing damage and costs for the other. Stack 3 of either one, and the opposite gets its casting time halved. Also, Stack 3 changes that annoying "no MP regen" thing to "slow MP regen")

tl;dr version -- Against a golem in Cutter's Cry (I leveled up mid-dungeon): At 39, I was critting on a Fire III (with 2 Astral Fire stacks) for 280 or so. At 40, with 3 stacks? Normal hits approach 280 and I had a crit for just over 500. Probably unnerved the tank juuuust a little bit ^_^:> It is at this point that Fire III and Blizzard III come into their own (good damage even if the "wrong" element is stacked (which makes them both dirt cheap to use AND cast faster...), and they instantly give you 3 stacks of their own element. Swifcast lets you use them while moving, without fear of interruption.

Just FYI for thm/blackmage -
- To unlock BLM, you need thm at 30 and archer at 15. Raging Strikes and 2-3 other powers can carry over to blm. Raging Strikes is a great damage booster. Even though their abilities all sound like they would only work with a bow -- if thm/blm can use them, they will work just fine.
- Get arcanist up high enough for Physick. As a BLM, you will not have access to heals from any other source (aside from a healer in any parties you join/make)

For crafters: Get Leather up to 15 ASAP. That grants you a crossover skill (works on any Craft/DoH) that cuts Durability loss in half for 4 turns. This has pulled my fat out of the fryer more than once, and pretty much makes Master's Mend obsolete. All Crafts have crossovers:
- One at level 15 (some moderately useful, some amazing)
- One at level 50 (improved version of the above)
- One that doubles Progress when using a specific crystal type (~lv37 or so?)
- At least one other, some great, some not.

Do yourself a favor and either get a Security Token from SE or download the smartphone app. MANY of the gilsellers that have been caught, have been using stolen accounts (read: 99% just bad passwords). The extra level of password security helps to avoid such an issue.
