Just picked up my retail copy and rolled on Sargatanas. I did play briefly in the beta but was wrapped up in a Mass Effect frenzy at the time so didn't play very much. Little chirpy Lalafell thaumaturge at the moment, just played a few hours before going to bed here in a minute. Will probably have another character of some sort on whatever server hubs wants to get on so I can play with him.

It looks like I will be starting playing FF14 again, I played 1.0 for a time (didn't qualify for the legacy discount though) so I don't need to buy a fresh copy of 2.0, won't be starting right away though, since I will be playing primarily with my girlfriend and her brother.

We don't know what server we are going to play on yet.

I just tried to search for you and it came back with no results. So I guess you have to be online to send a friend request?

I stuck to Lalafell naming conventions for my character on Sargatanas so her name is Arari Ari if anyone wants to add. And can get through the login/connection issues. I'll be glad when that mess settles down, but I expected it to be rough at launch.

Yeah. They added 2 servers early last week and another set (who knows how many) should come online Wednesday.

And yes, people need to be online to Friend them, and you can only send mail to Friends - while that will hopefully help prevent spam, it also makes having alts for item storage purposes pointless (cuz you cannot Friend/mail them) -- then again, storage isn't much of an issue in this game --

              - 100 generic slots
              - 9999 of each crystal/shard/cluster
              - More Key Item storage than you are likely to ever use
              - Armoire thingy in Inn room for promo items and quest-only gear like AF and Relics (lv10 story quest)
              - 2 Retainers that you get at around lv20 via the story who each hold 175 items plus their own crystal screens and money
              - If desperate, the Company Chest your FC (guild) gets, which holds more money, crystals, and items (tho they are more or less public access) -- I drop extra crafter/gathering gear in ours for whoever needs it ^_^

I was going to start downloading it to give it a try but the download is far FAR too big for me to do from home on my data limits - I will need to go to an internet cafe and see if I can copy the game off their hard drive or download it there.

                    • I wish they would just put us in queue rather then logging us out to log back in to try again. I also wish I could play more then a hour at a time. But I get on so damn late...

                      • Part of the problem is that there is no auto-logout for going idle (which botters can get around easily anyway), and it would not surprise me if there are several hundred on each World who just don't log out at all when they're not playing (each World caps at 5000 people at once to avoid slowdowns and crashes).

                        ----------------

Damage control from Yoshi P -- Along with a confirmation that, yes, server transfers are being worked on as soon as the servers themselves are usable. Also, they have said that going FTP or hybrid FTP/Subscription at some point is not out of the question, but not for now. They say they wanna make sure their devs can consistently get paid to make new content.

                        • Yeah, I typically don't log out during the day, at all. I log in first thing in the morning, and don't log her out until I'm definitely done playing for the day. I like to sporadically play for 10-15 minute spurts every couple of hours, so logging out would doom me to never being able to log in again. At least until they fix the login issues. =/

                          • Either I'm incredibly lucky or I log on during quiet periods, I've never had login problems on Malboro server since I started playing...

That being said, if anyone wants to come join me, I'm going to be making a Free Company on Malboro server once I hit level 25 and have the gil for it, I'm going to name it Brain Bleach, after the old World of Warcraft guild.
