Went slightly nerd here. Everyone has a DW shirt to wear and we purchased Jelly Babies and Jammie Dodgers for the occasion. Going to buy Tardis Blue juice (blue hawaiian punch ) and try to think of some more space and DW related food.

Thoughts on this anyone? Does pizza count? Lol

Is there a list online of which theaters are playing it? I won't be able to see it on TV as I am working at the time.
I didn't get the day off to see it in the theater either.

I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Thinking about what previous Doctors were known for eating...celery...chips (or thick-cut French fries, as Americans would think of them)...not carrot juice, Six hated it! ...tea, of course...bananas...any others?

If someone who has never watched Dr Who wants to jump in, how should they go about doing it? After all with 50 years of shows, is it too far gone for somebody who hasn't followed the series to even attempt to start watching it nowadays, or is there hope for us yet?

Start with modern Who (9 and on. Or 10 and on with Hurt now). That's the main storyline for now. After that you can experience classic Who at your leisure

Eccelston is still the Ninth Doctor.

The notion is that Hurt!Doctor isn't the Doctor (despite being called 'The War Doctor'), so the numbering still holds.

May just make it for the home viewing. Live a little!

My friend a Photo a Dude and I are getting together for the home viewing. I figured I'd catch it on my DVR, because I'll be watching a college football game that night (GO DEVILS!!!), but what I didn't realize, that PD pointed out to me, is that the special I'll be on in the early afternoon here, not at night as is normal. So, since his girlfriend I'll be working and won't be able to join us, we figure we'll have some beer and food. I was thinking chips and homemade salsa, but he suggested empanadas that he was going to buy, so of course I'm gonna look into making some myself!

Don't know that I can sell him on fish sticks and custard, though I may have it at home for another viewing.

Given that Moffatt seems intent on mixing everything up, I figured I'd cover my bases

For those who have not seen Doctor Who, yes I would advise starting with number 9. Consider it a reboot. It's never too late to join the party. Most episodes are 'self contained' meaning that there may be a few things that are not explained .. but for the most part the episodes are watchable by themselves without knowing exactly what is going on.

Somethings you will probably have heard even if you have never watched a Doctor Who episode.

Daleks (for some reason I've always heard it as Darleks *shrugs*) - Equivalent of Terminators. Want to destroy everything that is not themselves.

Cybermen - A lot like Daleks, but more Borg then Terminator. They want to make everything into one of themselves.

Tardis - the blue box the doctor goes around in.

Things like that. So even if you have not seen a Doctor Who episode no need to panic. They are fun even if you know little about Doctor Who.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Thanks. I know a little bit, and have seen a couple episodes (Blink being one of them) but want to watch more and wasn't sure where to begin.

I always warn people to give it a few episodes (and do the same for each new Doctor), as each one of them takes a little while to warm up to the part. After that, things get much more enjoyable.
