      I got...NOTHING.

Sort of. I'm typically pretty difficult to buy for, since I don't really want anything. I do want a new largish mechanic's tool set (most of my tools are actually my dad's), but by the time I said anything, none of the decent sets were on sale and my dad is a notorious cheapskate. I did get a promise that he'd keep looking for a decent set to go on sale at a decent price.

I also got promises from several people to make a particular type of donation for an issue that's important to me. That makes me very happy. It was actually a birthday/Christmas request, since my birthday was yesterday as well.

I think you should mention what that request was, so if anyone here wants to help out with it, they can. Very giving community here, ya know. I think they'd appreciate it.

You're right. Copied and Pasted from my FB page:

It's my birthday. It's Christmas. I've been asked a bunch of times what I want. Here's what I want:

As some of you know, I lived in a women's shelter for a few months. The one thing they don't get that they desperately need? Hair products for black women's hair. Their hair is different from Caucasian type hair. It requires different products. The cheapo Suave products don't work. The next time you're in the store, pick up some of the oils and such meant for that type of hair and drop it off at your local shelter. I promise you that the women who receive those products will be more grateful than you could ever imagine.

There will be more presents when the inlaws arrive later but so far Mom and Dad got me some choco pomegranate foot stuff, necklace, mom knit a facecloth with a cat in it, a purse, some new baking pans and utensils. My brother got me a giftcard for where I work. Hubby got me a camera cleaning kit and a camera backpack. I recently got a telephoto lens so it's really snug in my old bag and I wanted a backpack style for when I go birding with my brother in law. Hubby and I got ourselves a new gaming pc for ourselves as a gift last month.
I can't wait for the inlaws!! I do all the shopping so I hope they love what I got all of them!

                I got:

So, xx_wolfie_xx and I are still sitting here, stunned. We told people we're having a quiet Christmas at home, not travelling, so really didn't expect much. We bought the few gifts we could afford, and shipped them out, I baked a lot, and we sent out Christmas cards, that was about it. Then...then stuff started arriving. We opened it all this morning, and...wow...

                  For xx_wolfie_xx:
                  - a check from his stepmom
                  - a corker from his dad (for homebrewing and bottling)
                  - Bowie knife and 3 packs of oreos from our neighbor/best friend
                  - hot sauces from around the world from another friend
                  - from me: 5 gallon carboy, bungs, airlocks, and 4 different yeasts for his homebrewing - as well as a motion controller for PS3, some german chocolate, homemade stollen, and a belt pouch for his utility knife.
                  - Kindle fire HD with screen protectors and case from my mom and stepdad

                  for me:
                  - bundt cake pan and stuffed bell pepper pan from my sister
                  - arm band for my phone, and a new book by one of my fave authors from his dad and stepmom
                  - specialty stuffed pie baking pan, custom tshirt and dancing Gangnam Style stuffed frog from my mom
                  - Chocolates, and enameled cast iron skillet from our neighbor/best friend
                  - hot apple cider mix from a friend
                  - from my mom and stepdad together - A KITCHENAID STAND MIXER, IN BLACK!! (I cried. Seriously. CRIED)
                  - From xx_wolfie_xx, 2 KitchenAid cookbooks, and two attachments for the stand mixer. Also, some silicon handle grips and pot holders for cast iron, a GC to one of my favorite stores, and some fabulous chocolates. Lindor and Ferrero rocher.

                  For both of us:
                  - 2 black iron shelving units from my sister, to help convert a closet into more storage space

We're just in awe. And stunned. This has just been an amazing day and we're still not quite sure it's real!!

My boyfriend won Christmas this year. But only because his big gift won't get here till sometime January. I got him Warhammer 40k Relics (Fantasy Flight boardgame), comfy lounge pants, a D20 decal for the car, the Death Star Haynes manual. His bro and I went in on a Battle Foam Privateer Press Big Bag w wheels. That's the one that won't get here till January (and why I wasn't able to buy so much, it ain't cheep!)

He got me two Tribbles, tribble slippers, a blue Star Trek bathrobe, custom vampire fangs, a Game of Thrones 3D puzzle (not a huge fan, but I love puzzles), a stocking full of random baking gadgets, a Handbag of Holding from Think Geek, and Wilton Dessert decorator.

We do Secret Santa for my husband's family's Christmas gathering. My mother-in-law got me and asked my husband what I wanted. He said I had been really into Assassin's Creed lately...so she got me throwing knives.

Husband got me my very first Holiday Barbie (this year is the 25th anniversary), a Lego Architecture kit for the Leaning Tower of Pisa (I'm really into Italy at the moment), some warm fuzzy slippers, an insulated lunch bag to take to work with me, a book about writing fantasy/sci fi, and a lap desk. We also did a bunch of shopping for ourselves online, so I also wound up with the Sweeney Todd Broadway DVD, an Apocalyptica DVD, and a bunch of Welcome to Night Vale merchandise (3 t-shirts, bumper stickers, Night Vale Boy Scout buttons, and a poster).

Hubs got several t-shirts (one Welcome to Night Vale, one Green Arrow, and one Guilty Gear), Mansions of Madness tabletop game with the 2 expansions, a bunch of Pathfinder stuff, practice balisongs (butterfly knives), the D&D Shadowplague comic, Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds, and his Secret Santa gift was a trapper hat with built-in earphones.

I got some new hoodies, which I asked for because I only have two light-weight hoodies, one of which I sleep in, the other of which is for weekend wear. I got a new knit hat from my sister to replace the one she made me several Xmases ago that I lost.

I got Die Hard 5 and Skyfall, Batman Arkham Origins, Mass Effect Trilogy, and a few books, none of which were ones on my list. (Then again, my books list is smaller than usual, since I'm still working through the books I've received previously.) Two of the books that I got were ones I already read-- "The Player of Games" by Iain M. Banks, and "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss.

I was generous with my own gift-giving this year, since this will be the last year I can afford to splurge on my family. (This coming year, I'll be getting a new car and moving out, two major hits to my expenses.)

For Dad, I got him three Lee Child books for his Kindle, plus a golf GPS device that he asked for.

For Mom, I got her a new copy of Julia Child's cookbook (her old copy is literally falling apart), a Better Homes & Gardens decorating book, a new make-up mirror, the Wicked original cast soundtrack, and a ring.

For Sis, I got her a couple of books-- Sarum by Edward Rutherford, and Agata H & The Airship City by Phil & Kaja Folio (because I think she'll enjoy it), and three bracelets.

Mom and Sis were both quite impressed by my buying them jewelry, and jewelry that they liked, instead of just my usual books & movies & CDs trend.

I got new tires for my car. Not an exciting thing, but it's something they knew I was worried about.
