There's one of those here where I live called The Bar of Soap.Quoth sms001 View PostThere's also a smallish chain of bar/laundry sites whose name escapes me at the moment. Lot's of TVs too. Brilliant.
Not weird, but by far the most awesome business combo I've ever seen: TCBY and Subway. Two of my favorite things in one place. God, I miss that place...Drive it like it's a county car.

There's not a lot of different cuisines in my area: Middle eastern, Japanese, Chinese and Indian tend to be the main ones. There are a few Nepali and Himalayan ones in the area. That's about it.
I wish there was an African restaurant in the area though, sounds like fun!

There are a lot of weird business combos down here in the Deep Deep South.
Antique shop and cafe.
Sports and outdoors shop with a window full of crafted items like knits, wooden doll cribs, blankets etc.
Gem and souvenir shop.
Real estate agent + second hand shop + boutique imported Indian furniture and traditional clothing.
And that's just in my tiny (5,000) town.
I figure it's folk trying to maximise on their options. Anyway, it makes for some interesting browsing!

Not a "business" per se, but, a yellow Public Works Dept. panel van drove by me today.
On the side, it said "Remote TV Unit & Grout Truck"
Now there's an interesting combination.
"We now go live to another sidewalk sealing, and this one promises to be just as exciting as the last!"- They say nothing good happens at 2AM, they're right, I happen at 2AM.

Biker church and thrift shop.

Not as weird as it sounds. Public works includes a lot of pipes (water supply, sewer, storm drain, etc.) - for low-pressure pipes not handling potable water, they'd probably need to check the insides to see if there are any problems (the TV unit) and patch any holes they found (grout).Quoth Argabarga View PostOn the side, it said "Remote TV Unit & Grout Truck"Any fool can piss on the floor. Doesn't sound unusual to me. Most thrift shops over here are run by religious organizations and/or charities.Quoth Tama View PostSaw this one just today.
Biker church and thrift shop.A theory states that if anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for, it will be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
Another theory states that this has already happened.

Same here. There are very very few thrift shops over here that are not Christian-based in some shape or form. The only exception I'm aware of is savers, which raises money for the diabetes organisation in each state.Quoth NorthernZel View PostDoesn't sound unusual to me. In Pwllheli where I went to college there was a small shop, i have to presume it was a family business.
Combination Sports and hunting goods and Hairdresser.
Not good for the stylist if you didn't like your cut!
[After a bit of searching I believe that the place may have closed down, last time I was in the area would have been about 2004/5 and I was in college there in 2003. Google street view has missed that street for some reason, even though all around it are covered so I can't confirm]Last edited by Golden Phoenix; 10-30-2014, 07:24 PM.

Back in my hometown, there was a guy at my local mall who would cut your keys and also fix your shoes. Sadly he's retired now
But in addition to doing the above, he would also engrave plaques (my cousin bought something from him) and rented out some hot rods for special events as well. Turned out that he was friends with my neighbour who tinkers with hot rods as a hobby. The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

Few blocks from my place nestled in a dark, musty old storefront from the 60s that you couldn't even see in the windows of: A store that only sells hand made children's princess / faery costumes. All year round. Thank god it finally closed a year or so ago.
If it wasn't operated by a serial killer then it was a front for a drug ring.
Special Award: Whenever I go to my doctor's the cab always passes this weird creepy little house that advises psychic services out front.
