Low 60's is nothing here except still comfortable. It dropped down to 42 last night, especially after the rain moved in. Still hovering around 42 now.
You're right. THERE it's nothing. But HERE low 60s is chilly. And not just to the natives or people from warmer climes like myself. Even the transplants from cold places like the Northeast and Midwest find it chilly, especially when it's windy like tonight, as the wind coming off the Atlantic is not exactly warm and soothing.

Your 42 is probably not that frigid to you. Here it would be one degree colder than I've seen in my 15 years, and one degree warmer than the coldest ever recorded temp on this island.

It's all relative. That being said, obviously I'd rather be in the relative cold HERE than the relative cold THERE.

Cue various threats of ice attacks....

I'm getting slightly unnerved as it's just been the warmest Hallowe'en in the UK on record - 23°C ish. As in, I was in a light 3/4-sleeve-length top outside at midnight, and I wasn't cold in the slightest. It may be warm, yes, but something's weird because it shouldn't be. It's NOVEMBER, I should be needing my woollies by now!

the temp is going to plummet down into the low 60s Fahrenheit!
Ha, they're still wearing flip flops, tanks and shorts around here for that!

In fact, there are people here who will KEEP wearing those clothes until it snows about 10 inches. And even then they'll just throw a coat over the shorts.

and I in my crazyness still wear shorts, tee-shirt and sandels with the temps into the 30F range with a hoddie here in the heart of Cheeseheadland.

My oldest son wears shorts and a hoodie until about 0F. He's crazy.

That sounds like some of the folks I went to school with. And they couldn't figure out why they were out sick the next week w/pneumonia of the butthole (as my late Grandmother would say.)

I have a few vendors who will still show up at my store wearing shorts. All three Pepsi guys I saw wander in today (DW, Lee and another merchandiser) were ALL wearing shorts! And in the year and a half or so I've had DW working my store, I don't think I recall him EVER wearing long pants - I don't think he owns a pair.

So for Hallowe'en, it was a bit chilly and overcast, but otherwise a nice night.

Saturday on to Monday morning, a Nor'easter rolled in and decided to plop itself down on top of New Brunswick.

Freddy (my city) was right around 0 for the entire storm, so we were constantly getting an alternating mix of rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, slush, etc.... At first it wasn't sticking but eventually we got a snow phase long enouhg to chill the ground and start sticking. All told we had 5-10 cm that stuck, along with alternating ice layers.

Today we're getting rain and temps up to 10C, so the snow thankfully is almost all gone now.

Upriver, in Woodstock, that storm managed to stay on the wrong side of 0C for most of the time. They easily got a foot+ of snow (30cm or so). Schools were cancelled across the entire region on Monday; the earliest in the school year that's happened for a snow day.

In fact, usually the town/province doesn't even hire the plow drivers for the year until Nov 1st, so yeah, this storm caught a lot of people off guard.... People and Animals actually.

On Monday, while mom was home from school, they live out in a more rural area. (They have a half acre lot with woods and fields behind them). A young female moose decided to get out of the snow and wander around a bit, munching on the tops of the rose bush and the cedar bushes mom has in the yard. (She posted some pics but they aren't public enough to share sadly)

And though we only one more temporary fall since, the overnight temps have fallen below freezing.

Eh...we had our first shit the Friday that Annabelle started in theaters (damn I don't remember). I left work at 11:30 and went to Wal-Mart and it was really wet fluffy flakes of snow melting as they hit the ground and pavement. I slept through what accumulated to a couple of inches up north.

We've been under a winter storm watch since Friday night. The snow isn't supposed to start until late Sunday night, but it's "got the potential of up to more than 12 inches!" so therefore, a 3 day watch is necessary.
