Grabbed Skullgirls last night. Between that and Gauntlet, I'm actually going to need to get a controller pad for my PC...

If you have a 360 wired controller, those work quite nicely on PC; you'll just need to download a driver. PS3 and other wireless controllers may work as well, but I'm not sure which would require an adapter, and which would work via their charging cables. Some gaming news site recently ran a PS4 controller through its paces on a PC, and said that the results were quite impressive. Worth a shot if you have one.

My son plays Skullgirls and absolutely raves about it...I'm tempted to pick it up. And to take back my controller he 'borrowed' several months ago for one of his games.

Apparently I ended up in one of those "absurdly high level games" today. 1h 40m in or so, and we're already at level 20,300. o_O Lots and lots of just plain skipped levels, lots of Wormholes flying around, too. Plus, timer resets going so fast that the 1-hour cooldown items like Napalm are re-usable in less than a minute. Having dozens of Raining Gold out there for the same reason doesn't hurt, either. Best so far is 20mil gold per click on bosses...when the monsters even get a chance to load up in the first place. Jeez.

We got hit with surprise bill, so no more sale for me Sadness. At least I got Talos Principle and Grimrock. Still gonna do clicks to see if maybe I can't level the badge up a bit more.

Wait what? Download a driver? Which version of Windows are you running? My Win 7 build never has had to do so.

When win7 was much younger/the 360 was new, the driver had to be snagged from MS's site. Apparently it's now included. Awesome ^_^

Good to know. There's a couple of potential contenders in my list. I'm going to have to wait until after Friday, though. Didn't realize we had spent so much at Origins Game Fair... But we did get a ton of cool new board games...

Just to clarify - I meant "apparently," based on what LL said. Given the recent push to make Windows (esp 10) integrate with the XBOX-o-sphere, it wouldn't surprise me. I'm just ticked that my recent, clean install of win7 to my SSD is acting up. I've had several BSODs (none with 0x___ codes, one nonpaged memory issue, Steam giving odd issues at random, Firefox flaking out like crazy), and I had to do a System Restore. Nothing messing up since then, tho *knock on wood*. If this keeps up, it'll make me more and more interested in pulling the trigger on windows 10 sooner rather than later.

The game is at Level 48 thousandish and climbing. Much more slowly than when it began, but still....Mein Gott im Himmel! O_O

edit: Finished at level 80,450. I think that's enough of this game for me I'll just do the obligatory daily join to get my free trading cards, I suppose. Fun Fact: Apparently the badge you get for whatever your highest Monster Game level is, maxes out at 50k levels.

edit2: Okay, now I'm scared. As of this morning's reset, the #1 game was at level 64 million. What the everloving fffff...? ... I did some digging, and found that, as I suspected, this is possible due to people using scripts to auto-click for them. Kinda exploity, imho. I got nothing wrong with turbo-fire mice, tho At least you gotta be there to use them.

edit3: The max is now over a hundred mil. With a badge to match. Screw that. I ain't even gonna try to get that one x.x The pic apparently is meant to represent a "Wormhole" Item (which lets you skip levels)

I got Banished but was bored with it almost immediately. It LOOKED fun but honestly the 5 million tutorials to know how shit works (and each one seemed to take forever) was too much for me. SimCity 3000 is tedious too but I already know how it works so I don't have to be directed for 3 hours to know how it works.

Chroma Squad, on the other hand...

                        It's EPIC.

After having watched Markiplier play it, I really want to buy Kholat. Well...no, that's not entirely accurate. I want to buy the soundtrack *of* Kholat, but Steam won't let me without buying the game itself. However, the game alone is $18 already and the soundtrack is another $5.

Wait for the final day. Most of the store will be 60-75% off.

As for Kholat -- I saw the Jimquisition preview of it. Perhaps uncharacteristically, he was rather impressed FWIW. Well-paced, good atmosphere, and looked good to boot. Oh yeah, and Sean Bean does some of the voiceover work for it.

Since my last checkin: Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition, Strider (modern), Freedom Planet (basically old school Sonic-inspired type of game on crack with wonderfully hammy voiceovers, multiple playable characters, and a sense of humor), Banished. That last, in particular, is now officially on my "try it within the refund period" list.

Oh, the game looks amazing. It's some major scenery porn *and* it's based on an actual still-unsolved mystery, which isn't done nearly enough in the genre (to date, Kholat is the only horror game I've heard of that is based on an actual event). However, I'm not much for playing horror games myself, especially the ones where things can kill me.

The music is so pretty, though.

"Encore sales" just began today, with a 48-hour expiration...and shit for discounts, for the most part. I can't help but think that they're just screwing with users today, and plan to do the REAL final day (massive discounts) tomorrow, as usual. Crossing my fingers, here. On the other hand, they know damn well that most Steam users only buy during sales, and many of them wait for the last day...So they may have simply decided to be less predictable, in order to get more sales, sooner. In which case: Valve, you're assholes. All of you. Well played, but still assholes.

Last set unless they do a "proper" final el cheapo day ^_^ : Goat Simulator & OST, Deponia: The Complete Journey, The Stanley Parable, FFIV, FFIV: The After years, FFIII. And some DLC for Bioshock Infinite/Borderlands 2 I had not seen in the past. My poor wallet x_X But hey, that's why I had money set aside for this year's dive into the bargain bin. Haven't had enough to do this in years.
